Well, I thought my pc was pretty secure but still managed to get a not so new version of the Netsky virus (netsky.q) its an email based worm and whilst AVG found it could not incubate the virus. I downloaded and ran the Mcafee Stinger and this has deleted the worm. If you have AVG or no virus protection you may want to download this and run it, especially if I've ever contacted you via email and have you in my address book. The Stinger will search for and inoculate/delete 42 viruses.

Sorry to hear of the virus attack!
I just almost fell for the "Teddy Bear Virus" yesterday. Luckily I had the sense to trust my anti-virus software, and do some research. I found out it was a hoax.. that the teddy bear icon is supposed to be there!
Anyway, hope the virus didn't do any damage to your system.

Any email warning you of a virus is usually a hoax. Especially if it has a file attached to it.
Keep your virus software up to date and you will have as much protection as is possible.

Let me add to what John said:
NEVER open an attachment you are not expecting, even if it appears to come from someone you know. If you do this, rin Windows Update weekly, AND keep your virus software up to date, you will have as much protection as possible.
