I have gas in my car, I'm surrounded by mountains, and my camera is charged and ready to go.

I'll just go, you know, later. Maybe.

The last time it needed almost an 8 score to get on the front page!

BTW: I've only been on DPC about a year, but looking at those scores from last time it seems to me that scoring may have gotten more stingy since then. There are many shots that scored in the 6 range that I'd be very surprised to see make it out of the 5 territory today. Not that it matters much so long as voters are consistent within each challenge.

Yup, if you look back at the early days you'll be amazed at the difference.

It doesn't help that 2 hours ago I started feeling a tickle in the back of my nose, and now I have a full blown ucky.

Is "ucky" the medical term? :)
Hmmm... guess there's no way to fit boogers into "wildlife", is there?

I'm contemplating the ways! I do have a squirrel in my backyard. I don't feel like dealing with a 4.x though.

Maybe if you could convince him to dress in top hat and tails and do a little dance?

Yeah, I have my 600 shots from the other day and probably won't enter, for pretty much the same reason :)

Not a single mangey bighorn?? With your luck, the grizzly'll appear right after you've dropped your camera in the water ;)

(going away now!)

Don't laugh. Just prior to the DPC in Calgary this summer there was a grizzly up the lake that scared off a number of tourists. They came running down the trail freaked out yelling that a grizzly was chasing them. One guy with a camera in his hand had a shot of it. I kept waiting for the bear to come lumbering out of the trail but no such luck.

Good luck David.

OK, I'm in. I doubt I'll reach my score from the last one, but here's to hoping!

Nuffin at all, no critters even though the weather was great, guess Im out of this one. Even went way off the trail for a "better vantage point" found a cool little frozen water fall and in my true nature came out a little worse for ware but did survive and back home safe and sound...

Just put mine in, hoping for the best, who knows though.

David - glad to hear you did not get et by a bear!

I'm in but ended up not getting the shot I went out for. The conditions were right but I just could not get my subject close enough or in the correct postion. This one is more of a predictable shot than I would of liked. My guess is it will score in the mid 6's, just like the my last two Wildlife entries.

Dave, I could overnight you a slug if you'd like. Maybe even a snail?

Leaving for Montebello (Omega Park) at this moment. It's a 2 hours drive but it will be a beautiful sunny day, so I'm hoping to get something good :)

I've come to the conclusion Germany has no wildlife other than birds. I did see cows and donkeys whilst out and about today. Sadly, I think those both count as "domesticated" and not wildlife. The donkeys very gamely posed for me just the same. Then brayed loudly when I had nothing to offer them as a reward for their cooperation.

I have seen this question enough times in this thread, but the answer is still not clear. There are still a few hours left, and I want to swing my day accordingly to hopefully get a shot that meets the challenge.

Dear SC and/or senior members, can you please help in clarifying this confusion by voting [1], [2], or [3]:

[1] I believe a zoo animal meets this challenge.
[2] I DO NOT believe a zoo animal meets this challenge. But I will NOT rate it low.
[3] I DO NOT believe a zoo animal meets this challenge. I will call it a DNMC, AND will rate it low.

This will help a lot of people.

Thank you in advance!!!

ETA: Hmmm.. this silence tells me I touched a sensitive topic? :-)

If I see bars/cage in the pic then no dice... BUT if you can go to the Zoo and keep any elements of a Zoo out of your frame (i.e. as long as it doesn't look like a zoo) then it's all good!!!

Jut make sure that there aren't a bunch of little kids running around in the background of a picture of a Lion... because then it would be a bit too obvious =P

I think if you go back to Wildlife 3 you will see the winners were not zoo shots - at least that is my conclusion. We'll see how much average drops since I entered a zoo shot - obvious because of the animal but I missed the opportunity to hit my refresh button this week so I went ahead (against my better judgment) and entered it. Oh well - what is the worse that can happen a brownie?

My submission, like many others, is of a bird... don't see too many deer or lions strolling around Toronto... =)
