I see a bunch of awards for best photographer of the week and such... is there any awards for most improved over a period of time...?
The reason why I ask is I might be able to win that one... I am not trying to say that I should win because I know that there are plenty of photographers that I have not seen there scores but seeing the difference my photos have been voted just in the past few weeks is crazy...I thought I would ask... If there isn't maybe we can start one... Just a suggestion... |

Other than the three ribbons you see on the home page, for each challenge, all other awards are made up by members and given out by those who invented them. Some are quite cherished.
Most improved over whatever time, doesn't seem to exist... yet. Sounds like an excellent idea for someone to take up though. |

Well... You might get a little flack if you declare yourself the winner.
But yep, that is pretty much it. Design a ribbon/trophy or some other graphic, and either piggy back on an existing thread, or start one of your own. (even better)
It would be your award, so either you can hand it out as you see fit, or you can ask for nominations and then pick. It would be up to you. The more you involve others, and the more regular you are about handing it out, the more response and respect you will be likely to see.
Sounds like a very good idea to me. |

Thanks ambaker! I think I will be asking for some help on doing this because I don't really know what I will be doing and I don't want to screw it up...
So if there is anyone here who wants to be like an assistant for me I will really appreciate it.
As for the award... The design should be somewhat similar to all the others...
I also think that for the first few times getting nominations will be easier (at least until I get used to it).
Now should I start this in a new thread or do it here on this one... |

I have another question... Should I do it by week or month or year??? What do you think...?
What about members only or add the nonmember too?

I think it should be something shorter than a year. Too many entries to look at. Too long between awards. If you want my nominee for all time here, it would be: Joey Lawrence Check out his site at Joey's site Click on his link to his Holy Men portfolio, and if you have time read his blog about the one from India. After you are thoroughly amazed, go back to his profile here, and look at his pictures from four years ago. And then notice that he is 18
If you would like someone to help, I can help out.
Edited to add, that I would favor all users. The site is to learn about and improve photographic skills. If you improve, you improve, it shouldn't be only about money. If it turns out that the most improved is a non-member, maybe we can scare up a membership for them.

Wow!!! I really like the website he has... Those are some insanely nice photos!!! I also looked at some of his photo from 4is years ago and I agree he has improved so much... What about a weeks time...
Should this only count for challenge entries this way we can feed through the numbers easier then trying to see the photos that are in there portfolio...?
What if we say post the difference between your last challenge entry and the one that just finished... for example the long exposure shot ave. and the bummer challenge ave. when its over... That way we can find the biggest difference in score... and that be the winner for the week.
Tell me what you think... |

You rang?
Almost any drawing program or photo editing program can be used to create an award. Even clip art could be used for a base, and jazz it up from there.
