Should be interesting (read "controversial") for sure. Let the fun begin! |
well, after 6 days I haven't a response from SC. I think can assume that my photograph is regular... |

Somehow, however, I have this urge to be ripped apart this week.
*EDIT* On second thought, no I don't.

This is the first time I've entered more than a day out from rollover - and now I know why I don't.
I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to pull this image out - I LOVE IT - but can see from this thread that my idea of Abstract Emotion may be vastly different from others - Any mind readers in the building?

I have one hour between now and the start of the pre-season hockey game to find something for this challenge.
Can I do it?
YES I CAN!
(ok, I'm cutting the kids *OFF* TV) |

Oh WOW - I'm not alone, that's so beautiful ... it makes me feel ... um ... emotional, but in an abstract sort of way! |

Just a few hours to go and I've not started hating my picture yet :) How unusual, it must be going to do really badly. I can't wait to see the other entries!

Well, I entered, not sure how or why as I either got it completely right or completely wrong. And no milk bottles |

From what I researched on the internet, abstract has nothing to do with whether an object in the photo is recognizable or not - the definition was that the image represents something other than its physical reality. This would obviously be the case for blurry color splotches, since one can't identify their physical reality. But even things like seeing "objects" in some clouds seems to qualify - or focusing on an isolated aspect of a larger image. So, the park bench would be abstract as long as it wasn't a park bench.
Not that I have any expectation that dpc voters would follow a generally accepted definition, rather than their own personal expectation of what something is. I fully expect mine to tank badly...

I agree... i looked up the definition, made a setup, took my pic, edited it, and submitted it using the proper definision of 'abstract'... then i looked at the other abstract challenges... and unsubmitted my entry... technically it is dead on... BUT it is not abstract in terms of what DPC seems to consider abstract...
Anyone have any suggestions? I took a pic of something non human so that the non-human thing is showing emotion... technically it is abstract by the definition... buuuutt.....
What does everyone think??? |

If you feel that yours is abstract, it might well be an excellent example of abstract that no one has thought of. LOTS of us don't fall within the mythical/statistical DPC mean and are looking to expand our horizons. |

its kinda late for this sort of advice, but dont try and please others with your interpretation of abstract. if YOU think its abstract, and YOU like it, it probaly has a bigger chance of BEING abstract. know what im trying to say?? |

Is anyone putting the emotion, they're going for, in the title? Or just making them guess? |

It was something I agonized over, but in the end, I put a title that has the name of an emotion in it. I'm still wondering if it's a good idea or not. |
