I posted a shot a couple of days ago but here are just a few more shots of the tornado taken from our back deck, it was fun to watch since it never headed our way if fact it stayed pretty much in one place for about 20 minutes.

How far is Lemon Gulch from the Colorado Horse Park (Where I often shoot events) between Bayou Gulch Road and Pinery Rd?

I realize that now, this happened at the end of last month and I had another shot I wanted to enter but one of these would have scored better I'm sure. As far as being brave it never headed towards us or I would have screamed like a little girl and run to the basement.

I'd give it a 7 if you clone out those darn power lines. :)
Awesome shots.
I imagine you had to have a fast shutter to cut down on camera shake. Or did you take the time to set up a tripod? |

1/750 at F5.6 hand held but if I would have known it was going to keep going so long I may have set up a tripod, got a soda and a chair sat down thought about exposure levels then taken a few shots but I expected it to either end quickly or chase me....lol |

I'm envious! I often say that If I lived in the midwest that I'd be broke and divorced because I'd spend all of my time and money storm chasing.
ETA: Awesome shots!

Yes, it was funny as all get out, this guy flies right towards it and it was like he realized he was to close and made a real sharp exit. I really thought he might give me a photo op of a copter getting sucked up and spit out. My son actually has a video that show the quick turn araound. |
