Just, a thought if I may.
Perhaps you'd be better served emotionally, not to mention artistically, if you didn't spend so much time obsessing over each and every vote? I mean, spreadsheets are good and all if you're having fun with them, but if it gets to the point where you are having a personal affront every time someone votes you low and you know it because you can pinpoint it using mathematical equations...

While some of the color differences may be due to monitors (or the colorblindness of the artists), some may be an interpretation.
I almost photographed a subject that is magenta - thinking that it is a variant of purple (as are lilac, lavender, amethyst, grape, burgandy, etc.). Glad I didn't.
If this was a green challenge where would turquoise fall? Would it also be DNMC in a blue challenge? |

Hopefully I'm past the point of a low vote winding me up as in the long run the score I get is (usualy) right for my pics. Life (and the update button) would be pretty boring if everything was the same. That said I'd love to hear why a shot deserves a 1, 2 or 3 vote to understand why it is so bad to the viewer.

Sure, but wouldn't the entire philosophy and culture of the site have to change before very low voters would feel comfortable enough to comment in mass quantities? I've only been around for a couple of months (and been registered much less), but even I can see what happens to most people that comment less glowingly on some people's most precious "works of art". |

WOW! I am getting slaughtered (4.0). I already knew the weak points of my shot but didn't have the time or opportunity to re-shoot before the challenge deadline. Also I hate to say it but judging on this one seems a bit harsh (from the reports I have seen in this thread). I enjoy this site but with such low scores makes me think I am not fitting in. Too many people seem to copy each other or previous winners. I do understand this, they are just giving the voters what they assume voters want. I try to stay clear of the cliche entries and maybe hurt my scores because of it.

So mebbe do what I did long long ago, and come over to the Suck side...Team Suck Home Sweet Home...we're a bunch of nice people, supportive, and though we have ribbon winners amongst us, for the most part we care less about scores and more about having fun and learning.
