Hey, I was reading the D60 vs. Rebel comparison at Steve's-Digicams and it indicates that the Rebel does NOT have a PC connector. So... what is the little thingee on the left side of lens mount that has a little lightning bolt symbol ?? Oh, if it does NOT have a PC connector, then I am getting a 10D instead !!

That's the button that pops up the built in flash.

It has a hot shoe but not a PC cord I think.

My understanding is same as Gordon's; there is no PC synch port on the 300D. You would need to use a hot shoe adapter.

Maybe I misunderstood your question, but the Rebel does have a USB port for connecting to a PC- I'm looking at it.

He's actually talking about a connector for external flash, referred to as "PC Synch" connector.

The Rebel does not have an external PC Sync Connector, that was one of the major reasons that I went to the 10D.

Except this thread is talking about the standard PC flash sync terminal. This is used to connect studio strobes to the 10D, and fire them with the shutter. It has nothing to do with a PC (Personal Computer).

The lack of a PC flash sync terminal on the 300D isn't that big a deal, you can buy a cheap adapter that goes into the hot shoe that gives you the same port to plug in studio strobes.

Many strobes can also be fired optically (such as via a 550EX set on lowest power in manual mode), which alleviates the whole "cord hanging from the camera" thing...

Thanks for the input. That is a bummer. I kind of hate to work off of the hotshoe. Means they'll be a wire off the top of the camera getting in the way of viewfinder or ?. I do have flash activated strobes but that will be annoying as I don't usually want the flash on the Canon to fire head-on. (Note: I haven't bought the Rebel yet.. vacillating on getting the 10D)
