I think the original intent of Joey's was to buy a video camera, but decided on the 5D instead. I could be wrong, though.

So I guess in order to progress we need to become 'one' with water, dripping liquid, bright backgrounds, and now wire? ;-) |

She is 2 years younger than you are in DPC and according to my calculation she will be rolling you flat on the pavement no later than 6 months or one year. I can see you flat with tier prints on your back... with a little note taped saying "IreneM was here" :P
Sorry Shannon, no one seems to have any chance anymore LOL |

Tire tracks? I don't think so. Try runaway train and Scalvert is tied to the tracks. Maybe we could start a pool as to exactly what date she crushes him. :)

The difference with all of those people is that their entries almost always incorporated an element of emotion and 'soul', if you will.
IreneM is just pure DPC. |

Gary ribbons nearly 1 in 3 challenges he enters and has entered over 100 challenges. That, I think, puts him at the top of DPC ribboning. De Sousa could do it too, but he hasn't entered nearly as many. Jorge might go broke entering 100 challenges with everything to takes to make his masterpieces. ;) |

Obviously, you haven't taken the time to get to know her.
She is pleasant, funny, and kind; she will give you encouragement and help with no provocation, and is just a wonderful person.
The lady has much emotion & soul.
Maybe you should actually look at some of her work.

Obviously I wasn't talking about her as a person.
*EDIT* Mr. Jeb, you have this amazing talent for taking things amazingly personally and out of context. Perhaps it would help to take a step back and think about some things before responding automatically? I don't know.
As for the statement itself, I took a gander at the people's ribbon work that was listed, and for the most part, most of their ribbon wins were of a different nature. Maybe it's a change in DPC, or maybe it's just the trend now, but IreneM has hit the right type of photo at the right time. She does very well with this, and it's not a knock against her, but 90% of the time, she ribbons with dry, static, technically perfect shots, but they are devoid of anything else. That's not to say her portfolio doesn't have different stuff, or that she's a dry, souless person, she just found a formula and is running with it. One day it probably won't work anymore.
The other people all listed were primarily winning with shots that did evoke a little more emotion. Not always, certainly, but mainly. Perhaps a product of a different time. I don't know. I just know that I, personally, get a little tired of seeing "perfectly lit object in front of colored background" on the front page. There is nothing I can do about it though, DPC talks.
And right now, IreneM is DPC.

Give her a break, she's trying new things like soldering wire, 2X. And she has used paper and other kitchen objects under her "Macro Eyes".
Sometimes it's hard to give up the old water drops habit.

I hereby move that the blue ribbon in every challenge be renamed "The IreneM Award", in honor of her outstanding record of achievement and that she be excused from the indignity of having to compete for further recognition.

It is an honor to be somewhat associated with such an amazing technician.

I wish I'd said that. Yep, perfect statement of fact. |
Love it when these threads get resurrected.
I'll start by saying "I SO wish I hadn't agreed with that statement!"
and finish by saying " IreneM is one of a kind and I'm glad she's ours."
Runs for cover.

Even though it was kind of routine to see her droplet and macro photos, I missed IreneM at front page these days. I know she has TONS of ribbons, but she still has to win an "8"... and I can't wait to see that image.
Just wondering where she is :-\ |

Perhaps she got tired of all the forum bitching whenever one of her "eye candy" images showed up on the front page?

Perhaps.. However, she still doesn't have an 8. I am sure she just give up since she never got one, and probably knows she won't get that far ;)
Whatever it is, she is one of the legendary photographers here in DPC, and losing her would be a lost for us as well... just like the others who left over the years. |
