Hi
After I recently changed my hard disk , I had to calibrate my monitor again. So whenever I open my old I get this message the document hi.jpg ( file name) has an embedded color profile that doesn̢۪t match current RGB working space

Than it says how do you want to proceed and gives me these option

1 Use embedded profile (instead of working space)
2 Convert Document̢۪s color to working space
3 Discard color profile ( do not color manage)

under color setting I have chosen following option

Settings Color Management Off

Working Space

RGB Monitor – sRGB IEC61966-2.1
CMKY-US web coated (SWOP) v2
Gray Gamma- 2.2
Spot –Dot Gain 20%

Color Management Policies
RGB-Off
CMKY-Off
Gray-Off

BTW I was using PS6 earlier now PS 7 and I take printouts from a professional lab using their fuji minilab ( I am 90% sure that it is a fuji)

If you don't care about using profiles and you are wanting to switch off these messages, in your colour settings, uncheck the 'Profile Mismatches' options under color management policies and define some default policy, like convert to working space.

I will be real honest, i dont know much abut PS, i have just bought two books i could get here in India, one is Photoshop Bible and other is Photoshop Savy.( Indian version are very cheap , bible costed me less than 10$, savy for less than 6 $)

Well i know about the need to calibrate as i mentioned i just got my hard disk upgraded . Earlier i dont remember what setting i had but after calibration , 90% of Printouts were same as What i saw on my monitor .I printed using a professional lab using fuji .

Simply speaking after reading my present situation what do you suggest
I will be calibrateing my monitor once again , so i just want to know how can i go back old scenario where 90% of my printouts were same as what i saw on monitor .

Right now i am just started educating myself PS7 and have not reached that level of understanding in PS , about profile etc, whethere i need them or not

I'd suggest running Adobe Gamma from the control panel.

That should set up your calibration settings and make sure it starts up each time when you boot windows.

Then, in your photoshop colour settings, I'd use one of the general purpose default settings, European, North American or Japanese - for what you are talking about doing, it doesn't matter which.

That should give you a good working setup, that will get you going. As you learn more you can start modifying things.

If you want to go further,

I typically have my working space set to Adobe RGB, and the rendering Intent as relative colormetric. If you do this though, you'll need to remember to convert to sRGB for any web output/ sharing on line you want to do.

Depending on what sort of files come out of your camera, and what changes you make to the working space, you either want to preserve embedded profiles, or convert them to the working space. Currently I convert my files into the AdobeRGB for editing, then either go to sRGB for web, or print specific spaces for hard copy.
