Sorry to post this, I know for a fact it has been asked before, but the search function brings up so much.

So I bought the busy bee package from Alien Bees and I need backgrounds and stands. Where do you recommend buying from?

I was asked to be the photographer for a baby contest which has received 166 entries! The top 13 will be used in a calendar. The shoot is in Sept and my lights will be here Monday.

This setup will be available on //www.rentphotostuff.comonce the shipping logistics are figured out.

Thanks,
Justin

I've worked with Steve Kaiser's Backdrops and Backdrop Outlet. Backdrop Outlet runs some pretty good sales.

Wal-Mart has very wide unbleached muslin (about 12 feet wide, I think) for about $6 a linear yard.

Then, you can make your own backdrop if you're interested in saving money.

Take it outside, wet it with a hose, wad it up and spray diluted dye (in any colors you like) on it... wet it all down again with the hose when it's the color you want. Repeat if it's not what you thought after it dries.

Let us see some of your shots after the shoot, please.

Congrats on your honor!

depends on the quality you want. Ebay stuff is pretty good. but since you wouldnt need it til September, I would recommend just buying from your local photography store... that way, in case anything happens, you can always go to the store to replace it.

There are several different types of backgrounds available. The type you choose should depend on the look you want to achieve in your photos. You need to decide what the finished photos should look like. Instead of a 'normal' background material, you may want something completely different. For instance, a bunch of large pillows and some baby blankets.
