My husband and son are both competing in the Canadian Ironman Triathlon on August 24th. It would be a great time for a "sports" challenge"!

I just got back home and have put a last minute entry into Road Less Travelled. It may not be the best shot of all the ones I took while out there but I don't have enough time left to be too selective. I like it anyway..took it with my new lens. Let's hope the voters like it too! Now to go peruse my pics on a much better screen than my husband's old laptop!
By the way, both hubby and son completed the race so I now have 2 official Ironmen in the family. :)

Good for you Colette. :)
After 8 weeks of challenges these DPCO II games are over and I would like to thank the team for participating in almost all the challenges. A great effort by all. We didn't earn a point in 7 weeks but there's one week left, ya never know. Congrats to all for their hard work and good sportsmanship.
We'll get em next year.
As for me I am taking a break from challenges, unless I have a 9.000 idea to submit lol. I need a break from photoshop and will venture into portrait photography by getting some friends to model for me. I want to build my portfolio with real people so I can get a job in a studio as assistant photog or better.
I'm cracking one open for you all, cheers
jack

I'm below 4 with my B&W shot and I`m a lot pissed off because it`s a really clear and clean shot, so that`s my plight right now. I sure hope the people who know what an abstract is soon start voting.

I thought for sure it would do much better than this. |

I'm starting to see that my vision of abstractness isn't shared by many. I guess my thinking is old school but I feel anything, any subject whatsoever, can be made to look abstract in some way. Whether it be by using colour, perspective, point of view, different lenses or photoshop. It'll be a thrill to see what wins this.

It went up but according to the 2 comments, people are seeing something that isn't there. If only they would look a little longer they would realize what they're looking at. Once again, misinterpretation is going to sink my entry. :(
PS. In a way i'm happy that it's being misinterpreted for what it is. That must mean that I took an ordinary subject and made it into something totally abstract to the point where people don't see what it is anymore. Art!

Well its been fun guys, Id like to thank you all for your awesome support during the Olympics and Im impressed that I only missed 1 entry given all the chaos Ive endured over the past couple months and hopefully things will be on an upswing soon...
I would love to hook up with heavyj and his wife but they will be a little to far from me, Im in Calgary which is a fair distance where they will be in BC, but hey if you are in the neighborhood feel free to contact me and we'll try to set something up, maybe even with Ivo as well as he knows the back 40 here much better than I do :)
lastly Im surprised my B&W is doing as good as it is considering I used my twisted sense of haha on it :)

Looks like I shouldn't have bothered to put my Road Less... entry in. I'm currently running at 4.6. I should know better than to leave out the literal road in the picture! Oh well... That's DPC! Sorry team, no big finale from me!
I have enjoyed this side challenge and am happy that for the most part, just being a part of the team seemed to inspire me to enter shots that scored above my pre-Olympics average.
Thanks for letting me be a last minute substitute for cujee!
GO TEAM CANADA!

Good job all...sorry I couldn't get in the last challenge. I had a bit of shopping to do (Camera stuff my wife let me buy) for my trip. Calgary is a bit far but there is a chance we'll head out towards Banff.

well in that case Ill pm you my email and if you get up near Banff I should be able to make that trip easy :) a typical day trip for me can entail leaving here, going up to Emerald lake, Natural bridge, Takakkaw Falls and possibly Athabasca falls then home :P so yea Banff is no big deal lol

Well it looks like DPCO III will start Sept. 16th, I thought this was a yearly event. That's way too early for me to get back into it so i'll be skipping these olympics and concentrating on specific challenges instead, in case anyone wants to know. :)
