		Hello again.

After about 6 days without reliable internet connectivity, I'm more or less on line now, with a new modem coming tomorrow, I hope. Meantime, I've discovered that wiggling the wires keeps me somewhat connected. (my old modem is about 12 years old, which 'they' tell me is ancient.)

So, I will try to catch up on commenting and will post pics again soon. |

DAY 11 - The Shoot from Hell or Product Photography
    before after

This was the biggest learning experience of any of my shoots. I hated just about every moment of it including: the person who hired me, the bitching and whining, and the VERY low pay, but I did get hundreds of cool shots that I can't do a thing with.. lol

Thanks for all the comments.. and YES I do have a ****load of images for a product portfolio. ; ))

		Day 8
Beeeeeeeehind! But I did get a challenge entry in there!

Believe it or not, I just started shooting in raw a couple of weeks ago. I'm still learning how to convert, but wow does it make a big difference!

Okay, I'm back with a healthy telephone line and new modem/router. having gone from 'weak signal' to as good as it gets, I feel ready for action now.

tcguru had an interesting image in lately which I couldn't help fooling around with. Here are my thoughts:

I agree with the others that the crop and more intense greens do this flower a world of good. There might be a bit more that could be done with this image if you'd like. There is still quite a bit of detail in those whites and you can bring it out with a gentle application of Curves in PS.

Polishing the proverbial turd...but not polishing it much. This was a photo I took shortly after getting my first digital P&S, and it actually has (gasp) quite a bit of digital zoom. It's a little better, but very little. :-)

 Trying new stuff :)

ETA: I am really going to push myself to the edge of what I can do for the rest of this month... I need to get better, not keep mucking around like I have been forever and a day. So, in the spirit of this side challenge, I will go for one new thing a day (something I am really not comfortable with) until we are done. Ahhhhh, I feel better now :)

The rest of the tail is underwater! :-)

And to those that asked, he was probably about 5 feet or so. Not that big really.

Funny story... there was a palm tree that was leaning out over the water, and reached nearly to this rock. I decided to straddle the log and inch my way out to get closer to the gator. (the things we do to avoid using digital zoom.) I made it about halfway when he got irritated and slipped into the water.

I turned around and starting working my way back to shore, and when I was almost there, I stood up on the log to walk the last few feet. As soon as I stood, there was a terrific thrashing in the water right below me. Apparently the gator had made his way towards the bank as well, and saw me before I saw him. Scared the absolute crap out of me, and I nearly fell in the water right on top of him. lol |
