While checking the news today is saw this little jewel.
As a victim of a poorly run government database I sure don't think any government has any business accumulating such a large cache of information. I received a letter from the local state DMV (department of motor vehicles) telling me all my personal info had been stolen from them, along with thousands of other peoples. If you can believe it, they keep copies of all the data on local computers, un-encrypted! So if an individual DMV office is burglarized, all the data in the stolen computers is available for illegal use. So if a government run organization can't even properly manage information they really need, they sure don't need any other personal information to cast about and lose.

That is frightening.

Luckily, here in the U.S. we can trust our government not to abuse such data. <-- joke

:-D

It is only when we shed our last secret that we gain our first freedom. Do not let the shadows cloud your path, allow the light to shine. Give your personal information to everyone you know! Start by giving me all your bank account numbers! Only then will you know the true freedom that is only Zen!

Once all of the jobs have gone to China, someone will have to provide for us. Why not the bastards that sell us out every day?

Yes, that was a joke. Sorry that wasn't as apparent as I thought!

Too many people are willing to trade freedom for safety.

Well, it made me laugh before I knew it was a joke for sure, so it still had its intended effect :). I just know that there are people out there that would say that seriously.

Yes, I need someone to oversee my life. I really get up to all sorts of mischief sometimes, I just can't trust myself. But if I knew I could trust my government to keep an eye on me I'd feel far safer.

And not to mention the fact that by collecting all this personal information about me it keeps the terrorists at bay.

Yes, including the personal details of all 25 million Child Benefit recipients in the UK, I'm surprised that scandal was allowed to die down after a while. Don't know if the CD ever got found.

I am hoping someone will steal my identity and then all bills are belong to them!
