I finally tried RAW and now I can't get any of those shots to come up in PSP. I'm using version XI. I really don't know what I'm doing, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sometimes different programs don't recognize a manufacturer's RAW format. Go to www.Adobe.com and download their dng converter. Convert your Sony RAW files to dng, and your program will probably recognize them.

Thanks for the help. I will go and try it.

Sounds like the file association was changed. What program is it trying to open them with? If that is what's happening, I can give you step by step to change the association.

I first tried to upload them with the generic import but the computer said it needed an update and the laptop wasn't connected to the internet at the time, so I scrapped that idea because I was too lazy to turn on the router, I know, pretty sad! So I decided to install the program that came with the camera to see if there was something in there that would help me. It helped by allowing my RAW files to be uploaded to the computer, but now when I open PSP, none of the pictures are there. I think what I need to do is run the update for the computer, but if that's the case I'm still lost.

I'm afraid I'm still not understanding what you are trying to do. It sounds like you are using an import wizard to bring the images in, Possibly the windows camera and scanner wizard. Then you are perhaps using PSP's organizer tray. I assume then, that the organizer is where you are looking for your images and where they are not appearing. If the import appears to be occurring, then the photos are being placed into a different folder than where you are looking for them. You'll need to check the settings in whatever you are using to import the pics.

I'm not too familiar with those functions of PSP, I'm afraid. I use a card reader and manually drag and drop the files to the folder of my choice. For a geek, I tend to maintain a very manual workflow.

Ok, maybe you can tell me how I should do it. I use my card reader and two programs come up that ask me if I want to import my files, the programs from windows pops up and my sony software. Should I not do it that way? I even opened PSP and tried to import using PSP's import option, and I still have no RAW files. I looked for an update to see if I needed to update my PSP, but it says there's no update.
ETA- I'm going to try to see if anything works on the desktop. I have a funny feeling my problem is this piece o' crap laptop. I did, afterall have to plug in and unplug the card reader 3 times before it even recognized that I plugged something in.

Really silly question, what version of PSP are you using? The Raw format my Sony camera uses (ARW files) is only understood by version X2 or above.

I wouldn't recommend using PSP for your RAW files anyways. It's not got the flexibility of a dedicated RAW convertor. Here's one I know of that's free :-) Raw Therapee

Works for me too. That way it doesn't "edit" the images and I know they're valid for challenges :-).

I guess that's the answer I was looking for, my crappy laptop, which I just renamed craptop, has XI.
I will work on plan b now.
Thanks to all for helping me out!
