| At the moment we own a basic backdrop setup - 2 footed stands with the bar that will hold paper rolls and muslins. We want to be able to hold at least 3 paper rolls on one stand. One of our problems right now is that our studio space isnt as wide as we would like. For us to use the stands we have right now with the paper rolls we have to have the stands a good 4-5 feet from our back wall because of a thin wall closet that protrudes out a bit. I am looking at this backdrop setup as an alternative that would allow us to place the stands right against the back wall and be able to hold up to 3 drops. Does anyone have any experience with this setup or does anyone have another recommendation as to a system that would work the same? |

We used vertical boards on each side of the wall, drilled with 30-degree holes and pegs inserted, rested the crossbars on the pegs; had 3 sets of pegs, 3 colors of background paper, each leading off the back of the roll so we could pull any one of them down without dismountign the others...

I like my expan drive setup (well, except for the plastic chains, but eventually you'll get used to being gentle with them). In studio, I have the brackets mounted directly to the wall since they're not really going to move around much (plus that way, no floor space is getting wasted). I use autopoles when I don't have room for the footprint the stands normally require. And in situations where the background paper is simply too wide, I've cut my rolls (gah).

We have Manfrotto Wall Mounted hooks in conjunction with the Manfrotto Expan-Background Paper Holder Set. They work really great but we only have the single hooks installed, not the triple hooks as our ceiling is a bit low. Would of been great to hold up 3 rolls at a time but it only takes a minute to change them over!

Autopoles ?
Got 'em, love 'em, recommend 'em.
My only suggestion is to look for a second hand set to save a few bucks.
