Hey guys,

My 30D is showing low battery levels constantly.

I have two 'authentic' Canon Li-on Batteries'.

One is quite a few years old, but the other only 1 year old.

The charger says they are both fully charged, but the camera says I have 'low battery' levels for both.

Any ideas on this subject?

I'm assuming you cleaned the little metal contacts? Perhaps you can borrow a battery from someone and see if their battery gets the same reaction. Dunno...maybe your charger is not working properly?

How do I clean the contacts?

OK - Blonde moment here - you mean deep INSIDE the battery housing right?

You can also try a different charger...... I have a charger that doesn't charge them as full as my others. (I have tested this theory on 5 different chargers, only the one is odd).

If you don't have one or have a friend with one, try taking a 'fully charged' battery to a camera store that sells Rebels or the 30D and see if they will let you take the charger out to test your battery charge. If they charge more on the new battery charger, maybe it's time to get a new charger. Also ask if you can put the batteries in thier Rebel or 30D and see what thier camera reads. (before you test thier charger, of course).

Hope that helps!

Ok - Crises averted.

I got out my old Charger and it seems to be doing a better job than my new one.

I still don't know where the battery contacts are - I'm hoping for clarification for the future - GRIN!

Let's hope this little issue is over - I am SO ATTACHED to this camera - it's become like Lisa Camerahands!

The contacts are the little metal parts on the end of the battery, and the metal parts they touch inside the camera. :)

They're the shiny metal things where the the battery touches the wiring. The look like small silver rectangles lined up in a row.

THANK YOU!

I thought you meant INSIDE the camera - Lord knows I should NEVER go poking around in there - GRIN!~
