I'm new to the site and have been looking through a few of the old challenges.
What would be your vote for the 'Best Challenge Ever', i.e.: the challenge that produced the best pictures across the board (not just a couple of masterpieces).
On the whole, do you think that the quality of challenge briefs inspires, (or unispires) the resulting pictures? Or does it make little difference? |

Good old times....
The world was an happier place to live in - it looks like as it was heaven now....
People was not busy with politics....
The trolls did not have the right to vote yet...
Nor they had learn how to write comments...
The rant forums where all filled with people kissing each other... |

I have particularly liked
Something Old
Pencil (I think this challenge really produced some incredibly creative ideas)
Fruits and Vegetables
Negative Space
7 Deadly Sins
Blue
Yellow (and not just because it's my favourite colour - some great images here)
From Above (a lot of very very creative entries)
Glass
Magazine Cover
Self-Portrait Revisited (people seemed to cope more readily that time around with portraits that didn't follow the typical face/ shoulders format and there were some beautiful and original ideas)
Desolation
Grace
Macro III
Shallow DOF (I do love shallow DOF anyway so this was a great one for me to wade through)
Mundane
Textures II (not lots and lots of great entries but some stunning ones)
Silence
But, as my Favourites list shows, I've found some images I love even in challenges where, overall, I haven't been too excited by the entries.

I like challenges where there are absolutely no restrictions at all on editing. So far there have been only two such challenges that I have taken part in "Future" and "Multi-image compositions". Using more than one image for a final photo isn't seen too well here I know and it does evade the principles of classical photography..... But I like it :)
Other than that I did enjoy the "Nude" challenge :) |

The good ole times must have been short lived.
While reviewing the works of Gary H. Minish I happened upon what I thought was a nice entry to the "Your Occupation" Dec-2002 challenge. I was really surprised by a comment left by a member who gave the photo a score of 1 because he could not clearly see what Gary's job was. A little bit of the "Doesn't meet the challenge" of today.
After looking at that person's profile, things became more clear, a low voting average and a low score average. I was somewhat taken back when I looked at his entry into the "Motion" challenge also Dec-2002 and read a comment by a defunct user named "Swami G". It appears good ole boy Swami had esp and knew the results of the vote before they were made public. (Or the process was different and the results were public?)
I'm guessing the "good ole days" had some of the same problems that people complain of today. |

I really enjoyed the photos from "Humor".
