What do you use (brand, Ram, Memory etc.) and are you happy with the quality of the image and reproduction on paper? What is the approximate cost? Thanks

I use a Toshiba Satellite A-135 laptop with 1 gig of RAM and 150 gig hard drive and i've used the "Spyder 3 Elite Display Calibration System" to calibrate my monitor. I edit my photos using Photoshop 7.0 and I am very happy with the image results. In order to save space on my laptop, I store all my photos on a "My Book" 500 gig external hard drive. If I'm careful with my editing, and I usually am, the overall quality after printing is quite high. I don't uses a desktop printer, however; I take my photos to work and print them using our digital processing equipment.

thanks for the reply. I also have a Toshiba Satellite. It is now 4 years old. I just bought Photoshop CS3 and I am finding that my laptop will not handle the download. Its time for a new one.

I use and have a MacBook with 2gb of Ram I took it took work and had the IT guys calibrate it with that spyder thingy. I use photoshop CS3 to edit my photos and keep the original Raw files on my external hard drive or my other desktop computer. Oh and very happy with the turnout on all of my images

I have a custom Apple iBook iBook G4 12" 1.2GHz/1.25GB RAM/100GB HD, and do not use it for serious editing, because the screen is to small. It serves me well for storage and some prep work/archiving in Aperture when on the road. All my edits are done exclusively on a desktop (iMac 20" 2.33GHz Intel C2D 4GB SDRAM/256 VRAM).
My wife uses a MacBook Pro 15" 2.2 GHz/3GB RAM Intel Core 2 Duo 160GB, but edits on her Apple G5. I would use this machine and monitor (for edits), if I had no other choice, but still prefer the larger 17" screen of the same brand and model.

All computers have Aperture and CS3 installed.

I just have an Acer Aspire 5570-2067 I bought from bestbuy.com last summer. It has a 160Gb HDD and 1Gb DDR2. It's fast enough for me, has decent storage, and I haven't had any trouble with it or with editing/printing from it at all, and believe me, I've had TONS printed from it (both at home and elsewhere). I think it cost around $600 at the time. I run Photoshop CS3 on it with no problems.

i use a peice of crap Inspirion 1300. I stuck 2gb of ram in it though and it's permamently hooked up to a 500gb external hd and so far i've been impressed with it. The stock amount of ram was godawful but spending £30 on 2gb goes a long long way.

I use an Acer Aspire 3050; AMD 1.85 processor, 1.5GB RAM, 80GB HD. I use a Dell desktop as my primary and only use the laptop when I'm traveling somewhere, but it works really well for me, despite the slower processor speed. Runs Vista Home Basic, PSCS3 - sometimes a little slow but always without any issues.

I've calibrate it with a Huey and have always been happy with prints I've ordered. Price wise, it was perfect: from Newegg.com, it must have been the last one they had in stock because I've never seen the 3050 model again. It was just over $400 and had free shipping.
