The image formerly in 2nd place was disqualified due to lack of a valid original. Please join me in congratulating our new yellow ribbon winner, Roz.

I would check the other 3 as well, just to be sure.. ;-)

4th place looks legit.

Oh, so that is why my image has just been called up for validation....that puts me in fifth place now. And here I was getting angry, wondering what on earth there is to question on my image with minimal editing. Phew! Now I can breath.

ok this may be a stupid question... but.. in my April freestudy during the conversion from RAW I was able to make my background black just by adjusting the settings.. is this illegal?

Yes, ok for Advanced, but a bit contentious in Basic.

Yes, ok for Advanced, but a bit contentious in Basic.

If your original background has any detail, and you adjust it to be a completely solid color with no detail, you may be subject to a DQ, regardless of whether the challenge is run under Basic or Advanced rules.

If the background is already a solid color with no detail it is usually OK to shift it to a different color.

bah, thanks... it started as dark with some green really out of focus stuff... I will have to choose something else then...

Yup, I thought so too, guess SC gave them a while to submit the original image? Mind you, am happy to accept a Red Ribbon :)
