Just had the weirdest comment to my "off screen expectation" submission.
"Might have scored higher if there was an indication of what they were looking at."
Surely the point of this challenge was to make the viewer wonder what was beyond the frame boundry, not mark them down because of it?
Fair enough mark it down because of focus, grainyness, framing, composition etc etc but this is taking the p**s a bit isn't it?
sigh

I have a few similar topics. They bothered me too. I thought that the point of the challenge was to portray what was beyond the border by the scence actually in the photo, such as peoples expressions, and not to simply title the photo what the viewer was supposed to imagine. |

Those are strange comments
I did buy insurance by using the title to hint at what's off the image. In Silence, I let the subject speak for itself (silly, silly) and this time around perhaps over reacted.

sure your photo is ok assuming that the picture at least conveys that something is there. :) |

seems like this will be a very interesting result. Being a relative newbie does evey challenege cause this much controversy or is this an odd one?
Thanks to all replies and I apologise for my earlier rant
Feel better now 3 glasses of red wine into the evening :-)

I was so buffaloed by the challenge I didn't submit, now that I see how much wider others interpritation of the challenge was I wish I had. I have great hopes for paralell lines cause the scores this week are going to be harsh.

Definitely a wierd comment to make given the title. My most unhelpful comment ever came today: "Don't like it" - very helpful!!!! |
