In 2005, I tried to share what I know with what I do. Like the novice of DPC that I was, the things that I shared was not taken in with open arms.

So, I stopped.

In 2006, I started the creative thinking exercises ending with the Essential Thinker thread.

I bumped it once in 2008 to see if there were any more participants, but alas, other topics of more importance topped off the milk.

In 2007, I started the "Desk Sets".

Assignments Desk with 381 posts, and 8452 views, this thread, open to anyone and everyone that had a need for a job, or knew of a job opening is the most popular of all the desk sets.

This thread, Deadline Desk, dedicated to the other challenges of the world, open to all to add too and choose from, with 160 posts and 2593 views for me was a fun thread to maintain to keep it going.

The Internship Desk, as well as the Assignment Desk were the only two threads where I got emails from people thanking me for helping them find internships and jobs.

The rest of the desk sets,Workshop Desk, Study Desk, and the Money Desk were all brought forth, open to all to add to, to help with their needs to continue, take to the next level, or just simply learn this machine we call the 'camera'.

Ellen Morgan (emorgan49) added her findings the most in the Desk Set threads. Thanks.

In the hopes that I could make a difference in peoples lives, for a whole year, I put forth these 'Desk Sets' for the participation I wished that would of blossomed.

I still think, even though little participation occurred, that some sort of community forum, open to members only, that did provide a place to go to put a job opening so that a member could apply for an opportunity, or a place to go to see what internships are available out there in the world, or what money is available for artists, or what other contests are out there and how to find them, or what photography schools are in the world and how to apply, would be of a great benefit.

Right now, DPC is a good place to learn through others, but there is a sophomoric attitude with the opportunity curve.

Adding more opportunity to the forums, IMO, would make DPC more through the challenges, the learning, and the opportunities a powerhouse. A triple threat, sort to say.

DPC can call them what ever they want, but, for the membership...for the serious artist that wish to go further and farther, the Desk Sets are a great template for the forums.

I am suggesting this for the DPC admin for one reason.

I am concluding the Desk Sets.

I have re-upped my membership, and am moving on to other ideas to share with the membership.

I hope Ellen will continue them....or not....whatever.

Fin.

I enjoyed your desk sets. While I did not contribute, I often looked through them to find things that might be of interest to me or some jobs that I could take. Lots interested me, the jobs, not so much.

I, for one, appreciate all of the work and effort that you put into it.

Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Like cryingdragon, I enjoyed looking through them. Some of them applied more than others (I had no need of the Internship Desk, for example, because I'm not looking for such an outlet.)

Call me stoopid, but I just didn't understand that anyone could add to them. Maybe I missed a post somewhere?

Sorry. I rarely found anything that you hadn't already posted, but for the couple of times that I did, it just never occurred to me that I could add them to your thread.

Through all you have done for others on this site...out of the goodness of your heart...I only have one thing to say to ya.....I still dig ya!

Note....I only suspect the OP to understand the meaning behind that...so don't think I have gone nuts...hehehehe! But seriously...I wish there were more like you.

This word "OUTLET" would be a good name for said proposal, as opposed to "Desk".

Yeah, that is what I was thinking as well.

This is not my site. This is not the Man Called Horse Photography Challenge, this is DPC.

Therefore, the threads are not mine.

The idea was mine, but the physical presence of the threads are not.

With the inclusion of the "OUTLET" or "DESK" into the forums for photography related jobs, internships, prize winning, juried contests beyond DPC, How to get funded for your art ambitions, and where to go for a workshop or a school would definetly make it a DPC item.

The confusion of the threads being 'mine' would be clearer if they were part of the forums.

I might continue to post things that come my way.
