I got an email today after ordering a baby gift for a friend...and I couldn't help but laugh out loud (literally) when I read it.

While registering as a shopper with jcpenney.com, you chose not to receive our promotional Email. This Email is being sent to confirm that (insert my email addy here) will not receive Email from jcpenney.com.

Maybe it's just me, but sending an email to tell you that they won't send you an email is just...well, ridiculous.

Just had to share! :)

Just so long as they don't start sending you advertisements via email and asking you, with each one, if you wouldn't mind "opting in" now.

This is another example of e-mail 'ridiculousness' (is that such a word?)..my husband wanted some information from Portugal, so he wrote snail mail asking for an e-mail address to be able to communicate faster. What did they do? They wrote back via snail mail with an e-mail address supplied, even after he had supplied them with his own e-mail address.

The one that takes the cake for me... this is dead true at a place I worked....

The email system went down but once it was up again they sent out a broadcast email to say it was back up...... Where do they dig these people up from?

Although I think that was pretty stupid on JC Penny's behalf. They are probably just taking a precaution, As I am sure someone has probably emailed them and complained that they are not recieving emails from them. My wife has done just that with Kohls once when a friend of hers received a coupon for 20% off and she didn't receive one. She is on the mailing list and should have gotten the email.

Anyhow this way if you would complain to them they have record of notification that you are not on their mailing list.

Big Business spend lots of time and money making sure they have both their butt cheeks covered and now days they have to. Or We will see the first You didn't spam me enough lawsuit. lol
