My silence image seemed to gather a few comments from people whom did not understand the title.

The image is here:
The title was "Silence for Dummies" and was a play on title of the popular "...for Dummies" books which I know are international.

What i didn't realise is that in good old America, you use the word pacifier.

It can also be relevent from the slang to Dummy Up which is to silence something.

Next time I will put more thought into the image rather than the photo ;)

she is 3 1/2 months old, and I completely understood this the moment I saw it!

definition for pacifier

We in America do use the word Dummy to refer to a pacifier, among other things!

I never heard the word dummy used to describe a pacifier. I interpreted the title to mean that even a dummy could figure out how to silence a baby with a pacifier. As such, I didn't find the title mean spirited at all. I can't imagine anyone interpreting the title to imply that a baby is a dummy. Then again, most babies do have the brain capacity of an infant. ;)

Same here ... too bad it seems to diminish so rapidly with age....

Being from the same wee island..I got the "pacifier" reference immediately...however, it took a few seconds before the analogy with the book series clicked..It did bring a smile (very clever)

Excellent image too.
