I just wonder why the reviews for the Nikon D3 and D300 have not been released yet? Any ideas?

Because it is a lot of work and the man is busy.
Do you really need a review to determine if you want a D300 or D3? If you look for differences between Canon and Nikon, simply read he specs. They are all so close that reviewing merely shows small statistical differences that do not really matter. So what specs do you need, which camera feels good in your hands? Do you have the money? If so, buy it.
Dpreview's forums (especially Nikon and Canon forums) are full of people blind for photography and a love for measurements. They buy the camera with the best review, go out of the door and shoot lousy pictures of their cat, prouding themselves that you can count 10 more cat hairs on their photo as the one from the other forum.

I have inside information that both reviews will say "Highly Recommended"
The rest of the review will be splitting hairs like Azrifel says. |

Ha! Good one.
SO many political threads lately, I thought this was asking if Phil was anti-Nixon.

There's a term for these people: Measurebators. They simply get off on measuring minuscule differences and making mountains out of their molehills. More often than not, they are simply picking the fly poop out of the pepper and not making any real contribution. |

What a dull answer!
I feel pretty comfortable to assume that such a site will be able to provide decent reviews for such cameras to the readers since they have been released since quite a while from now! |

Someone asking me about my camera in a diner a few days ago, while I was flipping through the shots from the morning
'what Canon is that?'
'a 1D'
'woo, that's almost a professional one, isn't it?'

a D300 question.
What if I want to use both the timer AND LiveView on the same shot? These are 2 separate modes on the dial. Is there a custom way to do this? |

Tate, from what I've gathered in a few threads at DPReview, you cannot use Live View and the Timer at the same time (nor mirror lock up in live view, either). :-/
EDIT: Thanks, marbo, for the link to the D300 review!
