Well, I've just now botched two posts since I'm up too early without enough sleep.

Goin' to a cheer competition for the kid four hours away. Good planning on Coach's part.......on the weekend of Daylights Savings changeover, schedule a Sunday competition four hours away to whack the kids out and make 'em drag at school on Monday.

On another cheer note.......the '08 parent team makes its debut next Sunday. Maybe my wife or daughter will get a shot of the biggest, ugliest cheerleader you ever saw.

Though I'll certainly be more svelte than last year.

I'm halfway to my goal of losing 150 pounds.......and inside three months! I'm pretty happy that it's going well.......a little alarmed that my diet was SOOOOOOOO bad that just eating sensibly and doing some maintenance exercise has caused the weight to just melt off like this, but now I'll be healthier and hopefully live a loooooooooong time to be a burden to my kid.

Although.......now that she's 13, methinks my very existence is a burden. My work here is done! LOL!!!

Hi everyone

Barbara recently had a terrible tragedy in her life. Please see her thread (Broken Heart) on the homepage and send her all the best.

Hi everyone, I've been sadly absent from the photography site for a little while now. I've been concentrating on hitting the gym and working the new eating lifestyle.
The good news is that they have been working well. In the past 12 weeks I've lost 5 inches each in the abdomen, waist, and lovely hips too! And with the help of Weight Wathers I'm within spitting distance of 18 lb. loss in 7 weeks.
Yesterday we had drenching, and I mean drenching, rain all day. Only three minutes after I started the grill, for dinner prep, we lost power ... for ONLY 7 hours. The only real problem is that the sump pump couldn't work without electricity and we needed it. Got about 5 inches of water in the basement. Lucky that my husband's work has generators, so we borrowed one for the night.
Pretty sunshine today and all is well with our little corner of the world right now.
I hope to pick up the camera and get out soon. Probably not this week. I'm headed down DC way to help my son during his surgery and recovery. (deviated septum). He's 27 and should bounce back immediately.
Jeanne
Miss talking to you all on a regular basis. But once I have my weight back a bit on the better side, things will rotate back to photography again!
LOL, I almost forgot ... today is the one year anniversary of the last operation on the leg ... thanks again all! On to better and happier and more photo friendly things!

Yay, my Cap'n! I reckon you are well suited to Team Suck (not that your photography sucks, but that you like to try things that break the mold), so hope you pass any challenge Posthumous (aka 'Our Fearless Leader') sets for you!

goc, just nominate somebody for a Yappie and an OOBIE and then you're in, once we sick meyer on you.
03/09/2008 04:58:49 PM · #733
You mean meyers, surely :p

goc comes with recommendations - a picture of his is proudly displayed on my bedroom wall, alongside Melethia's Ode to Joy.

Oh, and also, we speak the same obscure first language, which is kinda cool :)

Just a cautionary note for anyone wanting to buy CF cards on eBay, avoid this seller - uk-memory-world88 - , I bought a 2Gb, £4.70+£4.99 p&p and a 4Gb Sandisk Ultra II CF card, £12.00+ £4.99 p&p in February, He refuses to combine p&p. Nothing arrived, he claimed that Royal Mail took 15 days before they considered items as lost, despite paying p&p for two seperate items(both got lost in post??) and after numerous mails he sent a message asking me not to report him to Paypal and eBay, promising to send replacements. Nothing arrived again, now it is in dispute via Paypal. He has refunded the cheaper 2Gb CF card money, but not the higher amount.

I have now escalated the dispute, Paypal and eBay will now sort it with no comms from me. In the meantime I have purchased 2x 4Gb Extreme III cards from mymemory-uk for £17.99 each! I have dealt with mymemory-uk a few times before and they are reliable and good value.

Be warned.

Another cautionary note - apparently roughly 90% of SanDisk CF cards sold on Ebay are fakes. And good fakes at that, making it almost impossible to tell the difference. It's a particularly dodgy thing to buy on Ebay - always use known sellers for CF cards! (if a deal is too good to be true, that's usually exactly what it is)

Yep, I agree. mymemory-uk are based in Jersey and their CF cars come complete with Sandisk recovery CD, warranty and instructions, boxed and sealed. They also have their own website, not just a dodgy e-mail addy. Be careful out there!!

Actually I'm the aggregation of all of meyer's less talented but nonetheless evil clones.

I'm another happy mymemory-uk customer - even got a free card holder! Speedy service, and definitely the genuine article.

Jeb, congrats again on the weight loss.

And Jeanne! That's also great news.

My own health news is simply that after a 15-year absence, I've started playing racquetball again regularly.

Sara, it's fun being so close to you in the free study marathon. :)

Wonderful to hear from you, Jeanne! You and NikonJared are an inspiration to all!
Oh yeah 51 cm later...well see my portfolio page. Find the car in the shot!

Does that mean that I don't have to buy my prescription drugs anymore, I can just drink water from the tap? (sorry, I know it is not a joking matter for some, I could not resist..)
