I've entered 178 challenges... since Sept. 03, LOL! But I only entered one in 03 & one in 04. So I really didn't start until 05.
I went to my first camera club meetup last night. I won 3rd prize. I was quite shocked. My shot was critiqued and not one person had anything negative to say about it. I think I like the camera club!

Oops, sorry for ranting. I should learn not to switch on my computer after a night in the pub...! Somehow it doesn't seem as end of the world now I think about it again... :)

My first challenge entry was actually Feb 07 anyway... I registered just to look at the pretty pictures, but got drawn in eventually :) |

Jelena, hope you are feeling better. DPC is a tough place sometimes. I think it's both the bad and good news about DPC, though, it being a tough place. It's bad because sometimes it makes you want to go stark raving mad, especially when a photo you like does poorly. It's good because those same feelings can help push your work to another level. The important thing is that artistic growth does not necessarily equate to what will do well here. There are a lot of other venues, some of which are far more oriented toward "artistic" (I put in quotes because who the hell can define artistic?) and abstract photos, which tend to do poorly here.
Jeffrey - I think you have a real chance with the stacked glasses in the Chelsea competition, but just the word Chelsea, synonymous with the NY art scene, sends shivers of terror up my spine... but what the hell, I may enter anyway. |

Odd question - is anyone having problems getting to Google, or is it my ISP? I can get to some websites, but not all. Weird. And Google has my email.... |

Sometimes when I'm supposed to be working I keep a window here or on google reader. I've had no problems getting there today.

No issues with Google, Deb, but being that you are in Germany, there could be server issues there.
Edit to add: ack, what to enter for Chelsea competition... must be above and beyond eye candy photos. Rooster may be too staid for a competition such as this, as may white peacock. Must think...

Make sure you log out and log back in. I had to do that when I "rejoined" (a decision I am still doubting was the right one) for it to show up.
Maybe that'll help?

Reviewing the artists in the upcomping Agora Fine Art Photography might be helpful.
The juror is from the Chelsea Art Museum. Reading the CAM Mission might give an idea what the juror is interested in.

Fellow Canucks - you know who you are - brace yourselves for Saturday, it's gonna be a doozy...they're calling for 30-50 cm in my neck o' the woods...
Oh yes I may soon have access to all kinds of weird critters to shoot (no, not my ex-bfs, lol)...there's a small private zoo opening its doors to the public this year, they need zookeepers, and they have no shortage of exotic species, many of them of the small cuddly variety...going to go see them Monday...warned them I have ulterior photographic motives!!!

OMG no, tell me you are fibbing! I just had to hire someone for $30 to shovel the crap the fell yesterday. :( (my back is like a pretzel)

just rain for us. 100% POP, heavy rain. maybe we'll get rid of the 4 inches of sheer ice on our driveway.
