I like hair, but washing it's no fun. Well done.

It got darker, too! Did you donate it, or just cut it because you were tired of it long?

Wow, that's quite a change, Mary! I imagine it will take some getting used to. And BTW, lovely photo of the new baby! Nice lighting - has an airy, innocent look that is perfect for the subject.

I just uploaded a new Picasa album. I'm really happy with the processing on some of the photos - I've been using PS Actions a lot more and am pleased with the results. Any comments are appreciated - hope the photos don't look overprocessed. Hit the slideshow option for best results.

I like that new 'do with the layering!

In terms of being happy with the change, I wish you better luck than I - every time in the past I've decided to cut my hair, I always missed the length later. But I'm a braider, so having enough hair to work with matters a lot.

My FS started of after 25 votes with a score that would be a PB, now this morning it has dropped a bunch. Darned pointy eared night-time trolls!

So how bad is my addiciton that I stopped at this computer in Staples to check my scores????? 8>)

And what explains that lately I've been coming to DPC, commenting or more likely just looking, reading the thread, not saying much (even if I think I have something to say) and leaving again without checking scores. Apathy?

I never heard back from the wedding photographer, so I guess he went with someone who actually had the equipment he wanted them to have.

Did you call them back? It's good to let them know you're still interested. Even if they did go with someone else, they may keep you in mind if that person doesn't work out. Worth giving them a call, though!

I second Deb's idea. It works, I've often got work just from making a polite call.

Just give them a friendly call, see what's going on, keep the tone light and cheery, and if they did hire someone else, maybe ask nicely why. And finish by asking them to keep you in mind if they should need a hand.

So long as you're sweet as sugar pie, they ought to have no reason to dismiss you!

I've had some supportive conversation here......anyone notice any difference?

You've learned how to use the liquify tool? ;¬P

Congratulations by the way - that is impressive, I need to lose nearly three stone, but I am finding it very hard to find the motivation I need to get started.

Yeah, it's impressive. You actually look good in the old one and fat folks always (ok, not always) look cheerful. Bit of a swizz, that.
I need to lose some kilos too, so you may have to be a bit of a role model here.
Kudos.

Oops! I actually meant to leave a number.....70 pounds since December 4th.

My doctor, and friend, told me I was morbidly obese.

That kinda scared the crap out of me.

He told me I could do something about it now, or when I had diabetes and heart trouble.

Congratulations Jeb, both on listening to your MD and doing something about it, rather than waiting for bad stuff to happen to you. Keep it up! :-)
03/01/2008 06:55:52 PM · #441
Congrats, Jeb - good for you to have taken notice of your md's warnings and worked to get results so quickly.

Thanks, guys!

I joined a gym a couple of weeks ago, nice place, many other middle aged fat folk doing death-defying acts.....8>)

Really laid-back atmosphere, good people work there.

I just accepted that I'm not going top be able to get away with NOT paying attention to how I treat myself and understand that thisl old body requires a little more care.

I feel much better not lugging all the lard around and that's kinda self-validating.

So it's a little bit more bother to take the time to shop, cook, and eat more carefully, but it's worth it.

I need to lose, too.

I hereby dub thee NikonJared

I'm turning the scores off and not looking, breaking my addiciton, won't stop me from coming here though you guys are great. Went to a weight loss class this morning 6 hours long and my head is full and spining. I'm a carb girl and need to break that habit. Boy I have a lot of bad habits that I need to get under control. It's suppose to snow here Sunday after record breaking temps today we got in the 70's. Spring is 20 days away YEA!!
03/01/2008 08:02:42 PM · #445
What a wonderful example, Jeb.

I also need to lose some significant weight, and regain much tone. I blame it on having had 3 babies in the last 6 years, but it's not just that I know. I am trying to make time to exercise - or at the very least take a good walk with the dog - each day.

Sadly, I enjoy food WAY more than I should.
03/01/2008 08:35:04 PM · #446
Nothing wrong with enjoying food...just keep in your house good stuff that is burnt up easily, ie fruits and veggies...kids are young, wean them off of any over-processed snacky foods while you can...maybe try Pilates, all you really need is a stability ball, (not expensive) which kids can play with when not in use...I know another mom who swears by her aquafitness class...

hope this helps!

Wow NikonJared, well done!! I too am in the need to lose some pounds club. I have always been ticked that I have a fat face and neck, so to see how yours has shrank is making me jealous. LOL

My housing situation is about to change in the next couple of days to a place that will be much easier for me to eat healthier, and I will have a dog I am dog-sitting for the next month or two to encourage me to take him for walks, so hopefully that combination will help.

On another note I am going to be having 3 prints entered in a local juried art exhibition here in town that starts next week. I have never tried showing any of my work so it will be scary and exciting at the same time. What do you guys think I should enter? I am thinking wildlife for one, landscape for another, and an architecture for the third. I am open for opinions though. :)

Jeb, you look FANTASTIC! Congratulations, and what a great role model you are!

Dude.....pick three that YOU know are good.

You'll feel more confident going in, and less likely to take critique badly......though Lord knows after entering challenges here, you do acquire some talent for being inured to criticism.....LOL!!!

Does raish get a half of a ribbon or something for his supposed inspiration of the Brown Ribbon winner?

I say supposed because it does not look anything at all like his original, and methinks that it was just shoehorned in. A beautiful image, but I do not see how he could have looked at raish's shot and then gone out to shoot what he did, there is just so little similarity. I would suspect he shot a wonderful image and than looked for a brown that would fit, and that was what he came up with.
