We seem to live in an age when the obvious is restated to us a thousand times - how to eat your food, drive your car, not to climb into a Lions enclosure, etc etc - capture an example of a pointless warning

Oh I like that. I think my microwave oven says not suitable for pets :)

Could make for a fun challenge. I always roll my eyes when I see the warnings printed on coffee cups from coffee shops "Caution, contents are hot". No, really?

And now in multiple languages as well. :-)

This does sound like a fun challenge. Nice suggestion!

Exactly those sort of ideas - how we would ever have realised without their help ?

But there is also room to make stuff up in the same style : )

Fun idea for a comic collection, but probably not the best to showcase photography per se. Wouldn't it just be a photographs of various signs and labels?

I am afraid so too. But then again, it would be a challenge to think of something better than that. :-)

Make it 'people ignoring pointless warnings'. More fun. More liability for the site. Pros and cons.

I see your concern - but the aim would be to capture the idea of the pointless warning photographically - you know the sort of thing - picture of a squirrel with the caption 'Warning - may contain nuts', the line 'microwave oven - not suitable for pets' opens up a thousand possible images . .

including the sign is fine if you can also capture the problem in the picture as well - it's just like having a caption within the picture. I think BeeCee was just demonstrating how dumb some of these warnings are : )

My favourite is the warning 'may cause drowsiness' on a container of sleeping pills. I would hope so.

Top man doctornick!! That is an excellent list with many such wonders as :-

"Do not use orally." -- On a toilet bowl cleaning brush.

or

"Do not use for drying pets." -- In the manual for a microwave oven.

Yeah, would have loved to have hubby beside it with his leg over the railing but, alas, he'll never cooperate :(
