hey so i recently switched from sports n now m focusing alot on landscapes, some portrait, and alot or photojounalism stuff. i was lookin at the canon 17-40, 16-35, tokina 12-24 and then the question arose to me. im soon to be shooting a 20d and i wanted to know if the 24-70 was too zoomed for landscapes such as mountains n what not. or should i stick under 20mm? but i really dont think ill be shootin indoor that much. how does the 17-40 do on lower lit situations? and compared to the 12-24 should i just fork over the extra cash for the l lens? i had a 70-200 n loved it. amazingly clear. thanxs

On a crop sensor 24mm was not wide enough for my taste.

I agree, from the choices you have listed, I would go with the 12-24 |

It all depends on what you're shooting. I've used the 100-400 plenty of times for a landscape shot.

Surprised you haven't mentioned the 10-22. It's an amazing landscape lens, but as seen here... it's also extremely versatile. Wouldn't leave home without it.

ive done my share of research n ppl seam to tend toward the 12-24. even fredmiranda gave it like a 9.3 or some nutz score like that. but ya, the 10-22 is for sure a sick lens. ive used it before n its pretty sweet.
