Interesting.
Some of my potential responses:
- That's going straight in my gear bag with my split ping pong ball diffuser and construction paper lens hoods.
- Too rich for my blood.
- I'm surprised Gary Fong isn't selling that for $50
:D

| Pop photo has had this in their tips sections several times over the past few years. I couldn't watch the video (stupid work internet connection) but I think "research" has shown up to two stops added with the string stabilizer. Not too shabby. |

I saw a guy with one of these on Sunday at a flower show here in Toronto. I noticed him because he was walking around with this stupid ring banging around on the floor making a load noise like the sound of coins falling, which needless to say, caught every one's immediate attention. While it seemed to work at the prescribed height above the floor, if he wanted to change his vertical height to better suit the flow arrangement that he was shooting, it became somewhat useless. But, a cute idea nevertheless.

| Well I might try it. I had back surgery in December so having a hard time luging the tripod around so this might work until I get stronger. |

While it may look even sillier, it would not be hard to tie washers at one foot intervals down the string. Then you can use it at whichever height you need.
It seems like a grand idea and one I want to try out. |

it seems to be sweeping the blogs and boards again just now. I remember seeing it about 5 years ago. and 3 years ago. It works, but just not that well, or as well as people might hope.
A tripod is still a much better IS system.

| I wonder if it would work well enough to do 0.5 seconds on say 24-32mm with onboard IS? If so, I wouldn't have to lug my 7 lb tripod on hikes to do waterfalls. That would be a big boon. |
