First off these pictures were not taken by me. They were taken by a school teacher in Dauphin, Manitoba!Interesting just the same, suposedly this deer has been seen many times but this is the first time photographed!Maybe it should be called the spirit deer, like the spirit Bear in B.C.?Any comments?

Thats really really nice Justine!I like the fact that these animals are reveared by native people! It seems to me that they are and were always much more in touch with earth than the rest of us!

The deer resides in the Riding Mountain park so I would imagine that it is protected!

Now that is really cool. Thanks for sharing that with us, I never even thought that they could be albino, I have never seen that. Very cool!

Always have your camera with you because you never know what you'll see. Impressive find.

Albinoism is possible in any species at about 1 in 600,000 individuals. I've seen several mallards, blackbirds, and even a blue flax plant. There also partial albinos, I saw a teal with white wings and grackle with a white head. Here is an albino Canada Goose I shot last winter through my spotting scope. Looks similar to a snow goose but much larger and no black wing tips. Van

I wonder about humans because I have heard cases about albino humans. Has anyone else? Like they have some weird eye color or something like that.

There are many human albinos. I met several. Very sensitive to light and definitly sunburn easy. Van

I thought all true albinos had pink eyes, as can be seen on the deer pics. In the buffalo pic there were no pink eyes and they said he wasn't an albino. Johnny Winters, a singer from the 70's was an albino. I think that was his name.

To be totally albino, I think all pigment is lost, thus pink flesh; white fur/feathers; etc. and red/pink eyes. Van

Actually, I think the singer you're thinking of was Edgar Winter (my hubby has an album of his from that era).

I went to school with a gal who was an albino - her skin was so pale it was translucent, could see the veins clearly through her skin, and her eyes were pale violet.

I'm Indian and I was really bowled over by albino twin little girls on a trip to India several years ago. As you can imagine, in a world of brown people, they stood out even more, and, with the ferocious Indian weather, had to be really careful not to burn. Beautiful kids - I didn't take a photo. I felt that since I wouldn't have taken one normally I shouldn't take it just because they were albino. It felt wrong. But they were beautiful girls.
