Taken using available light, desaturated using Digidaan's action and then fine tuned a bit

Comments, critiques, most welcome

Really like the direction these are going. They get better and better. Thanks for sharing I've really enjoyed viewing them. The tones on a couple are just fantastic. Wish I had a model.

Nice job. Good use of lighting and form. My favorites are "Virgo in Virginal White", "Repentence", and "Curves". These emphasize only the information that is neccessary.

He He! Those are just too good, well I did start out with a hope of replicating atleast some of those - but so far a displayable result has eluded me

@tim351 and justine - Thanks for the encouraging remarks

I absolutley love your work! I really like the one you used for the zodiac challenge.... very nice indeed!

Mostly b&w but that's ok, it's much tougher to get great shots in monotone. Monotones done will usually higher scores from me. You're able to capture great shapes and forms of the human body. Keep shooting what you like and what we enjoy seeing.

Thanks for posting this link, I had wondered before who did those. I esp. like 'bridge' and 'crane' :-)

Another one that I did today,

Larger version HERE

This was lit using a 200 watt tungsten lamp - can anyone give tips on how to avoid over burned areas and at the same time not miss out in the details

Very nice, Tarique. I like this one. I'm not sure if you noticed or not, but just to the right of her shoulder there is something (bar-shaped) that is lighter and shows up in the photo.

Thanks Jen, Thats the flare form the light - that is what I am trying to avoid - artifacts from the lighting...

I know I need to have a more powerful and diffused light, but would be glad if any guru would enligthen on how to avoid over burn with a cheap light :)

At Home Depot or Lowes you can get 2x4 diffuser sheets for standard florescent cieling fixtures. You can get several different diffusion patterns in clear or opaque white. You will have to build a frame for them of some type though as they are very flimsy. They will diffuse the light without cutting it down tremendously... Also in some lighting books I've seen, people will put a dark card between camera and lights in some circumstances to help avoid lens flare.

Thanks - I will look up diffuser sheets for florescent lights

Your image is very soft. For images like this it is generally a good, but this one is soft in the sense of unintentional out-of-camera softness.

Running NeatImage on it gives it a more soft focused look. Try it. You will like the result.

I disagree with stdavidson. I often like pinsharp and contrasted images but in this case I like most the bright soft focus images. Many of the darker one are OK but you have to work on the lightning tarique. Continue and good luck.

Are you still refering to this image //tariquesani.net/displayimage.php?pos=-614

I am a bit confused about out-of-camera softness, Other than desturation I did not do any post processing.

Also I have indeed used Neat Image on some of the earlier images in the series but the results from those are what I would call "out-of-camera softness"

It would please me if you would elaborate

The darker ones are the earliest in series and I agree, even I find most of them average now, someday I will reshoot the same poses with a better light arrangement than my tungsten table lamps :)
