Continuing boldly with Melethia's great idea for the last monthly Free Study which I think was useful to a lot of people, I thought I'd get the ball rolling again for this month. I will certainly be participating with a score in the 5.4's and not a single comment on a shot I really love!

To participate, you must meet/agree to the following:

Have a final score below 6
Be of the "I really love my shot" mindset
Post your shot along with why you love it
Accept constructive criticism and/or alternate views on your photograph
Provide constructive criticism and/or alternate views on the photographs of others

Come the end of the voting period I'll divide people up into small groups - the idea being that you comment on at least every photog in your group.

Who's with me? :)

Count me in - I really would like some feedback about what I did wrong...

Oh. Is this only for if you got a score lower than anticipated (i.e. "what I did wrong")? I knew what I did was going to be the kiss of death for scoring, but I couldn't help myself because "I really love my shot". :-)

count me in.

Oh wow - I am so in. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I started seeing the score on my shot.

I do sort of really love my shot, though I think I could have processed it better. So do I sort of qualify? (No danger of my perilous 4 turning into a 6).

No, you don't have to have a lower score than anticipated - you can still participate even if it scored about where you thought it would. It's a chance to receive more feedback than you might have in the challenge, as well as a chance for those who don't understand why their entry received a DPC score below 6. Note that I didn't say you did anything "wrong" - big difference. :-)

I do not know what my score is at the moment, but since it started at 4.6, I'm going to suspect it'll finish below 6. But while I like my shot alot, I don't love it like I did my December entry. It's a "pretty picture" and I thought it was a safer shot by far. And maybe it'll prove to be. But I will stop by and comment on those who wish to get comments!

I'm with you!! 6 is becoming the most illusive number....would like to know where to find one these days:)
02/01/2008 05:21:17 PM · #12
I would love to join this group. This is my favorite shot in months, but its nowhere near a 6.
02/01/2008 05:22:56 PM · #13
Well I was below a 6 but I am still just hovering above it and only 2 comments. If it goes below I wanna join because I think this could be the best shot I have taken in a year.

Mine is dropping now....

Can't see it getting back up to 6, so I'd like to join. I really liked it for a few reasons, and it was a maybe-dnmc for the Challenge I was shooting for at the time. Is it OK that's it's still my best score so far this year? lol I only have 1 comment - and they liked it.

Will we be allowed to compare to outtakes? Or is that better left to the outtakes thread?

I'm sure mine won't make 6. Probably around 5.6 so I'm in.
02/01/2008 05:44:54 PM · #17
I'm way in....my continues to drop
and it's even technically sound, sheesh!

Pick me!

I was in last month and it was fun.

I can't this time, my score is over 6, but I'll follow this tread and come back to do some commenting. :)
02/01/2008 06:44:43 PM · #20
My score is at an illustrious 5.2, has one (positive) comment and zero comments explaining what people do not like about it (or why they are bored silly ... or whatever else is causing them to pick the smaller numbers on the scale), and I liked it enough to put it in mid-month and not change my mind!

And I still like it. So I can play :-)

I'd like to join! I'm sitting at a 5.1, heh.

Count me in! I'm at a 4.3, though it's been explained quite well why it's tanking so bad (thanks Deb), I'd still love some more feedback. I love my shot!
