Here's my day 2. It's slightly early, but I need the extra time so I can get in more practice!

I am getting really excited by these images so far. I have a feeling I will be having a ton of new Fav's by the end of it all. Just wanted to say UNBELIEVABLE first day!!!

Day 2

An attempt to play with natural lighting. It isn't spectacular, but it's alright.

Just wanted to post and say I am going to try and keep up and comment as much as possible. I may not comment on all images but if you want my feedback on a specific image just shoot me a pm and I will make sure to comment. Hopefully I will get my day 2 uploaded before the band shoot tonight. If not it will have to be upload it tomorrow.

CAMO

ETA: Hair and camo paint sure don't mix when you're trying to get it off. My face is burning from the amount of facial astringent I just had to use to get it off. And some is still there.

I thought I'd start off with several of me. This counts as four, right? ;)

Day 2 - All play and no work...wait that's not right.

[thumb]641395[/thumb]

We have dumped gobs of money into our gaming systems. We have rid the world of hordes of aliens and bad guys. But we can not get to level 8 of Bejeweled 2 in timed mode. Go figure. (Wow, I just noticed I really need to skin this 360...)

In the 'song lyric' vein (I'm determined to see this one through to the bitter end), this is " Two sides" from the song "Two Sides" by Clawfinger.

Goal of this image was clarity of glasses (no flash on lens), No shadow visible (bit there )-; ), and separation from subject and background.

The lens is 85mm, and is quite far back. The DOF is from about the tip of the nose to just in front of the ears - still quite thin.

Thanks, I did notice the 85mm as well, as well as I thought I understood that the farther back the wider the dof becomes. So I am just thinking my 50mm is a loony bin L()L. I had completely horrible focus at about 12' with my 50mm at 1.8 but I screwed up my lighting at the same measure so "shrugs' L()L. My focal plane just seems about an 1/8th as thin as yours, thats why I asked 6-;. Fantastic image.

Day 3. new flash, lots to learn.

02/02/2008 08:50:43 PM · #48
Hey! Can I join in the fun? SPs are definitely out of my comfort zone. Since they say we don't evolve creatively by staying comfortable, I want to try this. It will be good for me and I really want to improve in portraits so this is perfect for me!

So 2 days to start with - very standard shots, I promise to get more out there as the month advances. First one was experimenting with flash (those things are tough to master) and I tend to go without because I don't control the results. The 2nd is playing with natural light and my new reflector. This used the silver side. Then selective desat (the bandanna is typical weekend gear for me). Let me know what you think!

Day 3
I was trying to go for a different look and I was getting frustrated. So I grabbed this stocking hat. I have a gazillion of them laying around this time of year! At least the cold is good for a little inspiration.
