Okay, so I took some of my self portraits, and did some re-editing. I know I had posted a thread for one of the photos, but this one is for three more. I really think I have improved them greatly. Really, I don't know what more I could do to them, if anyone has suggestions, that would be wonderful. I know the shadows are going to be a problem for some, but they are there, and it is hard for me to remove them.
Please tell me what you think, either here, or in a comment.

Definate improovement on both. for your shadow problem a second source of light would help... even just a refector would do. |

Im going to go buy a reflector this weekend, I know that would help a lot. I have tons of lighting systems, but need new light bulbs, have not gotten around to ordering them yet. Thank you for the suggestion.

Yup. And by "reflector," you can use a piece of white posterboard if you don't want to spend the money for a "real" one. Yellow and gray are also options, as they add different colors to the mix.

White posterboard would work? What do you think is better:
White posterboard, Car reflector, or Cardboard wrapped in tinfoil?
That is probably what I will go with until I can afford to order one off the internet.

Nice B/W conversion, Jamie! Go you!
Re: the reflector ... try all three ... they will produce different results and you may wish stronger reflection of light in some shots and softer in others. They will also help you decide what colour/type of reflector you want to buy when you do have the money.
P.S. another good way to make a reflector if you can sew a simple seam is to make a snap together rectangle from PVC or ABS (plastic electrical or plumbing pipe ... the abs is a bit stiffer) and four 90 degree couplers. Then make a white cotton rectangle with a seam top and bottom to fit on it. You can use another piece of ABS with a curved cut at both ends to snap into the middle to tension it during use too. It will unsnap and break down to fit into a backpack and is very light.

Anyone want to leave some comments on these? I would love to hear your advice. I know the shadows are a problem, anything else??
Thanks DPC members
