I KNOW the outtake would have scored better, but it's just not what I wanted.

You may be right, but I think your entry is a better portrait. The thought invoked as well as the technicals make it far better IMO.
We voters are fickle, but you know that.

Not too sure which one would have done better. But my wife picked one and my daughter picked the other.
Wife always trumps kid.

Maybe I'm just a big kid, but I'm kinda siding with your daughter. I think it's a simpler composition that just works.

I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO happy with 6th on this, but I was wondering which one you all liked better:
my entry:
what I almost entered:
the 2nd one isn't fully edited, but you get the idea ;P
great job everyone, very nice group of shots in this one |

I think you made the right choice, your entry is simplified, yet includes enough b/g to let us know you were going for nerd. The telescope IMO is a distraction.
The only thing I don't care for in your entry is that the hand is starting to blend in with the white book directly behind it.

I don't think any of these would have done much better, but I was after a chuckle, not a high score on this one. Disappointed to not get a brown. I suppose there was too much effort in my entry to get a brown.

thanks leroy, i appreciate it. i love the second shot, but there's no story, hot girl w/ a telescope, indoors.

desat, but my lips really were pretty bright red. it was hard keeping the color and getting the paleness i wanted at the same time with basic! |

Thanks. I kinda agree to be honest.
However:
- Sleeps with wife years into the future.
Kid will move out one day (hopefully).
If I'm slightly on the fence: Wife trumps kid...
