Hey everyboody! I am new to this site but I have already fallen in love with it!! I have a question for some of you pro's out there. I am currently what I would consider a novice photographer. I have only taken 2 community college classes, mainly just b&w film and some studio. I am certainly going to continue my education but I am not sure what route to take from here. The only programs that are offered in my area are one at the community college that is a commercial photography course;a photo journalism and a fine art program at the local university. I do not have a lot of money to pay for either of these, so I looked online to see what was offered as far as online degrees/courses. I have decided that the New York Institute of Photography's course on digital photography would be my best bet, it seems to provide the most information for the money. I am doing this purely to sharpen my skills as a photographer. If it led to a career, that would be great, but I'm not depending on it! ;) So, what do you guys suggest? Have any of you taken the NYIP courses? If so, are they woth it?! My main goal is to be able to take gorgous outdoor pictures, I am not currently too interested in studio photography, but would like to pursue it in the future. Anyway, please let me know your opinions on what would be the best step to take next. Thanks!
Sorry, just realized that I posted this in the Tips, Tricks and Q&A section and I'm thinking this is probably not where it belongs. ;)

Under Community --> Forums, do a search for New York Institute Photography, and you will find a couple of forums in which this has been discussed. You might find what you need there. |

Welcome to DPC. I'm not the one to answer your question but there are several that should be able too. There have been a lot of users that came to this site a novice with less experience than you have and now are professionals, so you came to the right community. Feel free to post and ask questions and the community will try there best to help.
Enter some of the challenges and have fun. We all try to learn a little from everyone here.
regards,
SDW |

Welcome aboard, Ashley! (and you have a nice DPC user name, too!) hehe
By the way, go to some of your local professional photography stores in town and see if they have any information of the types of training in which you are interested.
