Maybe someone has posted about this before, but I cannot locate it.

I would like to (in addition to seeing the latest forums I have participated in listed in my profile page) be able to flag a short number of forums that I might lose track of otherwise. Sort of a "favorites list" or "watch this discussion".
If one participates in a multitude of discussions..the most important ones can be pushed off the list quickly.

If you actually post in them, you can go to your profile and see the last few posts you posted in. I think I have it so I can see like the last 15. That's one way - unless you're posting like 20-50 times a day. ;)

I'd like to have the option of having about 30 on that personal list - or maybe I should just shut up more often.

I've been trying to find a thread I started about a week ago about real world colour management for example. haven't found it yet..

Go to Forums in the drop down menu under Community. At the bottom of the page enter your own nick in the blank, hit the Search button, and BINGO!! All the forum posts you've ever made come up in order of the date the thread was started. To find one again I think adding it to your Bookmarks is the only way.

Yes, I know. I have mine set to 30. Just that I have some of particular interest - not just having posted arbitrarily in them - that I would like to keep track of.

That's nifty, but I still have to remember which title I was interested in.

Another variation that maybe achieves the same goal you're looking for, with extra bennies: To be able to "subscribe" to a thread, then on your front page have those threads show up, maybe with a little visual indicator (flag, animated gif, bold) for ones that have had activity either since you last logged in or since you last checked the thread (the former is probably easier on the programming and the database). I know I sometimes post to a forum with a comment or question, then don't get back to the site for a couple days and forget about it. I know I can check the last x threads I posted in, but that's sort of out-of-the-way and includes the extra "noise" of posts on threads that aren't of lasting interest. Threads you actively want to follow, on the home page, would be much more useful.

And after that.... :)

A history of favorite threads. So when you see a comment, tip, etc. in a thread that you want to be able to readily call up at some later time, available on your favorites page.

Am I being greedy...?

I've posted about this before, too, but not gotten much response. I'd also like to see a similar function. I'd like to be able to categorize this list, if possible. Sometimes there are helpful threads that I'd like to save for reference later without having to bookmark each one.

Unforunately, search terms have to be three letters or more. :(

I normally just drag the url over to a favorites folder named for the type of help and name the link meaningfully. But I don't count. *runs away*

Can you use a "magic character" such as mk? or mk* as the search term?

Nope, doesn't seem like it.

Bumping UP....

This is a good idea...for those of us (not me) that post to lots of threads, even 30 listed in your profile don't help. And, with the funny, sometimes unreleated, names given to threads, even the searching is difficult.

A way to mark threads as 'favorites' - since that is the word on dpc - would be a nice benefit for anyone who finds something interesting and wants to keep track of it, especially accross multiple machines (ie work and home).

what does choosing "watch" from the thread options listed at the top of each thread do?

edit to note that I just realized this thread was started last year...so I think the answer to the most recent post is to select watch from the drop down options box "thread options" at the top of each thread of interest.

Honestly, I don't see this option...what am I missing?

Now I see...another members only benefit...there are more of these than would first appear.

Alrighty.
