So, I know this is long overdue.... but I am now a Certified Mixologist! I attended a one week class for bartending, and graduated! It was so hard... I had 3 days to learn over 150 drinks! That is ALOT! Plus to pass, not only did I have to take a written test, but I had to do a speed test. I had to make 12 randomly picked drinks in 7 minutes! I did it in 6 minutes and 5 seconds!!! WOOHOO!
I finished on the 6th, but because I have been job hunting and we are in the middle of buying our first home, I didn't have time to post ANYTHING! I have missed being part of the challenges, and I plan to try to get my textures in... if not, well mundane... that's easy around here. So, that one shouldn't be too hard! :)
Just had to share the good news in my life right now! Thanks for reading my babbling! :)

Hey...congratulations! Sounds like you did a lot of studying. Congratulations also on your new house. I'm a Realtor, so I know it can be stressful at the same time as being fun and exciting.

That's great Lorrie! When my French wife asks me what I would like to drink, I request a 7-layer Pousse Cafe. An old New Orleans special, and good for a laugh at our house. |

Let Lorrie's hard work help all you who hope to one day be a mixologist - learn a new drink every day and you won't have to cram for your test. Drink many of these every day and you'll never pass the speed test. ;-)
Congrats on your accomplishment- your efforts have lead to a better future AND showed you that you can do what you set out to.
Looking forward to seeing some of your shots.

Though i haven't tasted one to confirm it, I understand Alecia makes the best Chocolate Martini anywhere.
As for me, I'm on day 49 without a drink. No, That's not a requirement of the meetings, just something I do for the first 60 days of every year. Wait...that means only 11 more days to go!
Giddy Up

Congrats Lorrie! That totally rocks!
And speaking of Chocolate Martinis and layered drinks... here are two of my previous challenge entries! =)
(the "background" of the martini shot is pure Hershey's syrup; although that wasn't obvious to many people and I got a lot of comments about the "dirt", which were actually small bubbles. And I edited the DPCPrints version of my cocktails shot to clean up some of the drips on the glasses...)

BAH! You think liquor is bad, get an internal view of what coke does to you and you might change your mind ;-)

Not to take anything away from the Certified Mixologist; indeed, congratulations are in order -- please accept mine, but I think I'll stick with a smooth single malt. |

Rule of thumb: Beer before liquor makes you sicker. |

I'm guessing there's 50-100 DPC members within a 200 mile radius ... |
