| When I open my pictures I see all the folders sitting there (in thumbnail format) but there are no folder titles below them. I do get the titles when I go to icons or list etc but not in thumbnails. I like to use thumbnails but it makes it a little difficult without the folder names. Can someone help me to find them? |

Is it only happening in one folder?

It is only happening in the main 'my pictures' folders. When I open up one of the sub-folders it has the folder/picture names underneath. |

| I also wrote down the folder options on the ones with names and compared it to the folder options to the ones without names and they are both the same. |

I'm trying to remember how to do this in XP exactly, but you can set a folder back to default. I'm on Vista, so can't remember if it's changed any.
From the My Photos folder click on
View > Customize this folder >
I believe there should be a restore default button.

I have already done TOOLS - FOLDER OPTIONS - VIEW - RESTORE DEFAULTS and nothing. Here are the screens to show you my problem.
Without names
With names

Okay Monique....nothing you are doing will fix it. It happened with one of my long term folders. My computer techie had never seen anything like it. It only lost the titles in Thumbnail view on that one folder. In other views (like detail, list etc) it was fine.
When I finished that job (a year later) I tested the folder by making another folder and copy and pasting everything from the dodgy folder into the new folder...and it worked. I then deleted the old folder.
Try it.

Try this:
Choose a view that isn't thumbnails.
Then, hold down "Shift" and choose thumbnails again.
:O)

Out of curiosity...what purpose is this procedure for? Why would no titles be an option in windows?

You are right Judi. I made another folder and called it 'My other Pictures' and I moved one of my folders from the old one and into the new one and it now has a name showing.
I will move them all accross.
Thanks. |

No idea. Seems silly really... but apparently somebody wanted that option. I'll run up the street to ask someone at Microsoft ;O)
So Monique - instead of going to the trouble of making new folders - did the Shift/Thumbnails option work? |

Actually, I'd never heard of the issue until you posted.
I just Googled it, and found several people with the same issue.
