Hey guys...so basically I'm using Kodak Z760 for all my projects and even though it's a great little camera I'm ready for a grown up camera. I'd love to hear some suggestions.

Here is the process I would recommend you follow;

Figure out what your main usages for the camera are - sports, portraiture, etc.
Find out what features you need to do those usages well - ppl here will help.
Figure out your price range.
Research the cameras that have those features and perhaps some more to allow growth while remaining in your price range.
Find out which of those cameras feels best in your hands.
Decide which lenses you need to achieve your goals.

I know, it's long-winded, but I hope it helps.

How long have you been doing photography?
Well I suggest you try to find a camera that's in your price range. Also depends on your lens selection. Some people buy an expensive body and a not so good lens and vise versa.

I love my Canon 400d. Its my first dslr, fulfills all my requirements and more at the moment. Great camera has very good reviews and plaeasing results. The one thing i would say is change the kit lens as soon as possible as its not that great compared with other lenses available. It is a personal choice largely dependant on budget really.

Here's another.

But seriously, what's your budget? Remember, (if you want a dSLR) that lenses will be the biggest killer on the wallet.

I really appreciate all the advice and I should have included what I'd be doing with it in my first post. My price range is 700 but I really don't want to go over 600. I do mainly portrait and beauty work but I'd love to grow into other fields such as weddings etc. I could be doing weddings now but I'd feel silly walking in with my little Kodak. HAHA

I'd recommend a Canon Rebel XT body with a 50mm f/1.8 lens to start out with for portraiture. That will run you up to about $550ish so you'll have some cash left over for memory cards and all that.

yeah, that's perfect for your price range. The other option is getting a Nikon D40x, but i prefer the Rebel XT over it.

I bought a D70 demo with the 18-70 kit lens for a little over $500. B&H, and Adorama have a wide selection. The 18-70 kit lens is an excellent lens. For another $100 you can get the 50mm 1.8. With a Mack warranty, spare battery, 2 2gb memory cards, & shipping I spent just over your budget. There is a huge amount of reasonably priced used Nikon lens out there, that work perfectly with all their DSLR's, except the d40 & d40x, they lack an AF motor on the body..
