Susan, I was referring to what looks like a green Godzilla in your window in the upper right of that pic. ;) (pointing upwards with terrified look yelling "Zilla, Zilla!")

Good luck with the raw converter. :)

I am presently fighting with my own PS CS3 right now. Whenever I try to use the type tool I get an error that says "for some reason the type engine failed to initialize". I have actually re-installed the program and still get the error.... I think I might just blow up the whole computer and be done with it. LOL

I'm going to go to my first local camera club meeting March 5th. On the average, what size do you print for camera clubs? They want everyone to bring two prints.

My local club has a site and they post all the necessary info on it.

We're limited to 16"X20" mats and 11"X14" prints.

ETA: My club doesn't care if your print is smaller or an unusual crop, just can't be larger.....

okay I need help how do you post a link with a word? I'm working on something that I would like to link to but can't figure out how to do that.

1) Copy the URL
2) In the forum post box, type up to the point where you want to add the link.
3) Click the little icon above the box that's 3rd from the right and looks like a little ball (probably supposed to be the Earth)
4) Paste URL in the box that pops up
5) Type whatever you want the link text to be
6) Click "OK"

Or just paste the URL into the message and click the check box below the post box that says "Automatically Parse URLs"

Result of method 1: My favorite shot on DPC
Result of method 2: //www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=433305

C'mon everybody, we can make it more confusing than that...
The third method (here illustrated) is achieved by selecting the word you wish to link to the URL (in this case dragging the mouse/over the word 'method' to highlight it) then click on the ball/globe/earth icon fifth from the left and third from the right in the little arsenal up there, thus calling forth a little box into which you can paste or type the URL to which you want to link.

I think I need to find a local camera club. Problem is I don't speak German. Though it could be a good way to sorta learn - at least the photography terms!

Step 4.5 - after you've pasted the web address (URL) into the box, hit enter or click OK, THEN go to step 5. :-)

D'you have a couple of transistor radios or something you could blow up first to check the camera settings? We get pictures, right?

It'll be good, Ernie. I have no authority to say that, but this is faith coming your way...

I'm in peace. Ever noticed how, in the instant you upload a picture for a challenge, it is absolutely wonderful?

Hmmm. last time I tried to blow up radios the rent-a-cops at the mall tried to arrest me for planting a bomb and sent me to Guantomino Bay! Maybe I should have taken them out of the Radio Shack first. hmmm

Yep, and it lasts until the rollover when I get those first 5 votes and they average 4!

I actually found this one through meetup.com. I realized they meet right in my town and it's only $3. Since they don't actually have much info posted (other than what's going to happen at the meeting and the themes for prints/contest), I did email the "leader" to see what the rules are. They do post how many people came to the last meeting and it seems like a managable size so I figured I'd give it a try.

for me, uploading is the beginning of the disillusionment process. I'm already thinking "it looked better in Photoshop!"

meetup.com seems pretty good. I've also found local flickr.com groups to be a good way meet a decent group of photographers.

I'd be happy to look at it and give you an honest reaction, but I'm not very good with suggesting pp. ;)

Okay as you guys know I had back surgery in December and I had to give my job up because of it. So I'm taking some time off and what I want to do is take pictures a day and do a picture blog. I'm hoping this will help me learn. So Rocko the penguin is going to be my subject. Hopefully over time my photo's and pp will improve with your help. here Let me know what you think please, I know that they are snapshots right now but with time they will become better.

Hi Ernie,

Actually it's a rosemary plant cut in the shape of an Xmas tree, but now you mention it it does kinda look like 'Zilla, don't it? :0

Have to give Luna a talking to - she's taking over Druli's spot on my bed (they have a scuffle and he ends up leaving rather than continue to wrestle for it) and she's jumping up on shelves and, so far, has not knocked down anything fragile - but I must cure her of these habits!
