Is anyone willing to give me some help on an entry for abandoned buildings and then not vote on it?

From the Garth Brooks song "Friends in Low Places"
'Cause I've got friends in low places
Where the whiskey drowns
And the beer chases my blues away
And I'll be okay
I'm not big on social graces
Think I'll slip on down to the oasis
Oh, I've got friends in low places

Usually our scores are in low places. ;)

It's funny, I swear both my photography and the post-processing I do has gotten radically better over the last year. I mean, I started the year not knowing what an aperture was, whereas now I fell pretty competent behind a camera, my shots are technically sound, I know how to pull off what I want to get in a shot. Weirdly though, my scores haven't shifted a bit. And all my top highest scoring shots are still the ones taken with my P&S.
But I love photography, it's making me look at the world in different ways, and I'm getting what I want from it. So yeah, I feel at home here :)

I have to agree to a certain extent here myself. My second highest score was my first entry with TS, but all the rest of my top five have been as I've been going along with my learning curve, the third highest being the one I'm most proud of because before this year, I *wouldn't* shoot B&W. Not couldn't or didn't......WOULDN'T. And that's absolutely something I learned how to appreciate, understand, and put into practice here.

I've also somehow managed to get to a good space with my work and allow myself to enjoy the fuits of my labors regardless of what the voters think. I have nothing in right now, and that's amazing 'cause a year ago, I'd have had to go shoehorn something in to have an entry just to manage my challenge jones. Now.....it's much more contingent on what I'm doing for my own portfolio and enjoyment.

I owe the people here at TS a debt of gratitude for helping me to see what I can do.

Sure ... shoot it to me via Greetmir@yahoo.com and I will be glad to give you my objective, subjective and unbiased but far from professional opinion.

Okay, I'll go for three. I think it's going to be very hard though, because I haven't had a score anywhere near a 6 for a long time. How about if we work together by reviewing each other's shots before submitting them.

Okay, Deb.....you had asked the other day for people to send you.......stuff. Here's the world's most obnoxious, useless act. It's the Pud.....or Puddy, or in pigdin French, the Poux d'etat. It has erectile dysfunction.....it gets all happy, makes a stupid, weird noise, and falls over. It will then winch itself across the floor with its front claws. It thinks it's a person., and royalty at that, and should be accorded the fawning, sycophantic attention that goes with it. It scorns the other cats and is just........SERIOUSLY high maintenance.
[thumb]633255[/thumb]

You can tell by the uppity turn of the tip of its tail, and the way it'll pose, but not actually deign to give you its attention, that it's too good for me. It will get stupid though and forget that it's supposed to be shunning us mere mortals and it'll start purring so hard that it drools and whistles, promptly choking itself when it gets too wound up.

Take my cat.......PLEASE!!!!!!

Just wanted to capture this while it lasts. It's still going slowly in the right direction, but very slowly.

Right, 3 it is. 11 months and 15 days left, surely we can manage :)

And yeah, I'm up for working together. I'm really quite missing DPL - I learnt so much from having someone review my shots and make comments. Made me try harder too :)

They aren't exclusive. You can enter both.

Greetings from Ramstein's passenger terminal. After a VERY long 24 hours of being awake, in cold tents, on buses, in more tents, on more buses, we finally boarded a plane and 6 hours later landed. Now I have to wait for a ride, go pick up cats, and hopefully get to my home by about noon. I'm exhausted but happy to be here.

By the way, my third highest photo is from a P&S, as are a lot of my recent challenge entries. I gotta say that going from a DSLR to a P&S is actually kinda difficult. So don't know the P&S cameras - they definitely have their place and use!

Hooray on being back in Germany!

And my 1st, 2nd, and 4th-highest scores are with a P&S. Although if we stopped voting right now, my River shot would be my new personal best. :)

I just realized that 3 of my top 5 are shot with a P&S. Makes me wonder if I should ditch the DSLR and keep using the Minolta. :)

Following Posthumous's classic run through the entries in the time lapse challenge, I thought maybe some obligatory reading would be in order for SC council members. (Not that it's particularly easy to read, mind you).

A little icon, then:

Just holding my own for Team Suck. At least one person thought it was worth at least a 6 and I DID get two favorable comments so far.

Deb, YAAAAAAAY!!!!

Is there a kind TSer that is willing to help me choose my Best Of shot, I've narrowed it down to two likely candidates that might make a 5, please, pretty please?
