Hey! I'm new to this website and I would love to give this a try. I have never done self portraits, so this would extra challenging for me. ;) How exactly does this work? I just do a picture every day and post them on my page in an album? Thanks!

Can I join up too? No previous experience but willing to try.

Correct. Post a SP each day - better if you were a member so you could put the photo in your portfolio here and receive the comments on it, but not required. If you do post somewhere else, you would post the thumbnail in the forum and link it to your externally hosted pic, like this example (spaces in brackets used to show the code)...

[ url=//www.myexternalsite.com/mainimagepage.html][ img]//www.myexternalsite.com/thumbnail.jpg[ /img][ /url]

Again, membership makes it easier and allows you to keep the comments with the images here in your portfolio. You could sign up for membership for one month on Feb 1 for only $5 and then decide after that if you want to continue your membership (as if). :) Welcome to DPC.

Counted. :)

Also - for anyone's reference, here is a link to last year's January SP Challenge thread. Many images have since been removed, but if you start from the beginning, you can see how these these things work - very informal. They can be intense depending on how much pressure you put on yourself, but for me anyway they have been an accelerated method of learning both photography and processing techniques as well as inspiring creativity and imagination.

Since Cindi got the Noir style stuck in my head I think I may make it my SP theme, Noir SP!

Here is a primer!

You still here? ;-)

Nice to see you again Elvis, I thought you left.

List updated.

Elvis - there's some good theme suggestions earlier in this thread.
edit: Superheroes would be cool! 29 of them might be hard, but you could use some imagination!

Again, keep in mind a theme can be a subject/topic, photographic technique, processing technique, or even a simple prop or any combination of these and there is no rule to stick to a theme or to even have one - it just makes it more fun & challenging IMO.

Just haven't shot much lately and got a bit tired of some of the drama. But this was fun last time I did it and I need some motivation again:)

Yeah, but on second thought, Mike may just be the latest in a long line of people claiming to have Elvis' baby.

Don't worry. Like I said, many will enter, few will finish. I think I have only ever completed one or two side challenges myself. I probably average 80% completion typically though. If it makes it easier on you, here is a list of copy/paste comments you can use on my posted pics - AND they all come pre-marked as helpful!

That is just wrong on so many levels!
I don't know what to say to this.
I will never look at a ham sandwich the same way.
Is your mother still alive? If so, don't let her see this. If not, has she already seen it??
This is disturbing. Did you not read my "Do Not Disturb" sign??
I've decided I can only comment on your pics with my monitor turned off.
Have you seen a psychiatrist?
Have you seen an exorcist?

That should help you out! ;-)
