Ok, DPC, I need your help. I just purchased a new Sony HDTV yesterday, and it came with a free Sony DAV-IS10 DVD Home Theater System. My problem is that I am unable to program the AUX button on my Comcast Custom DVR 3 Device universal remote to talk to the DAV-IS10. I have tried all of the codes in the Comcast manual to no avail. Anyone out there have any ideas?

Codes tried:
31759
30158
31758
20533
21533
20864
21033
21070
21431
21536

Edit: And by the way, I talked to Comcast support, and they were unable to supply me with any additional codes (or anything else) to try. Sony support said it's Comcast's problem.

And that, unfortunately, is why we still have 3 remotes in our household... There just never seems to be a good all around solution other than to use the remote that came with the system.

Some "universal" remotes aren't all that universal, especially when dealing with equipment that's very new or very old. You might have better luck with a universal remote from a 3rd party, like Harmony or URC.

This site has everything you'd need to know about remotes, including user forums. You might get an answer to your question there.

Did you try 1903 or 1904?

I guess I got lucky for a while...my old Onkyo receiver code worked like a charm, and I only ever used the Comcast remote for everything. I think I'll end up in your boat with this one, David.

Thanks for the link, Ann. I'll check it out!

Thanks for the try, Robert, but this remote uses the 5 digit codes, and I've tried all of the codes in the Comcast manual.

You might want to try and use the TV remote instead. I was able to program the remote that came with my Panasonic HDTV to run the cable box, DVR, DVD and the TV. I was not so likely trying the other way around.

Buy a remote that lets you record the freq from the other remote (you put the 2 together and hit some keys).... not the popular "universal" things where you need the stupid code.

What ever happened to just getting up and changing the channel manually?

;)

I don't understand... You can do that?? I always thought that's why my father had kids... to not have to change channels himself :-) Actually with a couple of my appliances, some functions are only on the remote :-o/
