I really appreciate the wonderful comments I have received for my picture. I never thought I would receive that many comments. Don't worry I definitely won't win three weeks in a row. I'm back down to average on my recent entry.
As for my 'Taking Cover' photo. I wasn't trying to fool anyone into thinking that the boy was standing in the rain. I expected a lot of people to guess that he had to be playing in a fountain. This kid was playing in the fountain at the Seattle Science Center and he was the only one who had an umbrella. This shot just sort of fell into place. I had already been taking lots of shots of the other kids playing in the fountain so I had my ideal shutter speed already selected when I saw this kid with the umbrella. I only took about a half a dozen shots of him and when I got this one with the background absent of other kids or any other distracting elements I knew I had a keeper. It was not planned. I just knew that the Science Center which was holding the Folklife Festival would be an ideal place for people shots. I've had my best luck when I have gone to a location with no preconceived ideas and an open mind to capture what is presented to me.
Thanks again everyone.

Well Tim, you should try to get a model release from this kid and submit this somewhere for some big bucks. This is one of the best photos I have ever seen at this site or any other site.
Congrats! |

Thanks Hokie. I don't think I would need a model release, even if I could find the kid again, because you can't see his face so he is not recognizable. I definitely think I will do something with this picture, I'm just not sure what yet.

Wow! I never would have guessed that this was taken on the fly. I was trying to figure out how you got such good lighting. Perfectly diffused and exactly where you want it. Great timing and excellent eye Tim.
