I like your tattoo. I have one and all of my daughters have one or more. I think it's a way to express your individualism and I'm all for that!
Edit to add...if you look close you can probably see it on my ankle! :)

thanks, are you saying mine is dang sexy?? |
You're old enough to take it! I'll just say it: yes. :) |

"Anderung" has to do with the idea of mutation/transformation, the ability to change one thing into another.
Cool ink!

yes it does :)
directly translated it means Change, but does also mean alteration, mutation, modification, transformation etc..
But in English those are just synonyms for the word change.

Glad you like it and for what it's worth, it doesn't look too bad. I just hope you don't end up regretting it or that it one day morphs into spanish....

But enjoy it anyway. |
I shouldn't be but that comment was a little bit over the top. I am 1/2 German and I hate when i hear all this you must be a neo-nazi and how people were saying that all Germans were and are Nazi's when that is so false. My grandfather was persuaded into becoming a Hitler Youth and was called upon to fight for his country and he did, who could say no to their Chancellor? He was captured by the Russians, Escaped and fled to Canada. Which is why I live here now. My grandfather, nor any of my family is a neo-nazi. I have not heard one neo-nazi remark until now. I am honestly still a bit shocked |
I'm not saying that you are.
What I am suggesting is that German words are popular in and/or as tattoos on neo-nazis and others of that ilk. It would not be a stretch to have your tattoo misinterpreted as such, regardless of it's true meaning, the consequences could be painful for you.

Yo Noisy...way to go!
Tatts are one of those "follow your own drummer" type things that only you understand completely. I designed one while in Germany on one of my many tours there and... well... never actually got it done. Besides the amount of time it would take and the enormous amount of money (I have a great imagination and tend to go overboard on everything)... I guess the idea of acctually sitting while someone poked me with needles just doesn't fit me too well. But hey... I am only 55 so I got plenty of time!! :)
Enjoy your art and may it always remind you of the way you feel about it right now!

Sorry to say that, but "Änderung" is not the correct translation for "change" in the sense you mean; it would be "Veränderung" . "Änderung" is, when I take my trousers to the tailor to make them wider, "Veränderung" is more about things changing their appearance. Well, you have some blank space on your other arm :)

And don't forget....there is always Turlington's Tattoo Remover
ETA - The link takes you to a very funny SNL clip on you tube
Have to say that I nearly had a tattoo done on a couple of occasions but decided rather than make a statement in ink I would try and leave it to my own words and actions. All a matter of choice I guess

regardless directly Änderung directly means change. I am not necessarily talking about my appearance as the change, but of the changes I have done mentally. From my limited knowledge of the German language i thought Veranderung was more of saying different variations of something.
Regardless it is now on my body forever, it still Means change and thats all that matters.
