I've been attending a course on technical writing, to upgrade my skills and pad my resume, and the first assignment was to write something "technical" and to assume that the reader knows nothing or very little about the subject.

I had a hour to throw together 600 words. A Beginner's Guide to Digital Photography was all I could think of. As usual, I couldn't resist letting it stray toward the ridiculous.
