In general, in sports photography, stopping to switch lenses isn't a very useful option either. Golf, especially, requires a really large range of lenses, it covers a lot of ground. |
Don't forget the breakneck pace of the action. You'd be lucky to have time to scratch your nose between holes. |

It's possible that he's part of a team of photographers and holding a few cameras for others during a break (or that it was an intentional gag photo).. |

Well it all looks very practical to me. He has the esentials; 600mm f4, check, 300mm f2.8, check, 70-200mm f2.8, check, 24-70mm f2.8, check and last but not least 16-35mm f2.8, check. He has the full range and doesn't need to change camera bodies. And at least 2 of those cameras are film bodies making me think this is an old image. you can tell by the bottoms of 2 of the cameras. Notice how the main part of the body of the camera is thiner than the base, the digital Canons back of the camera is basically flush with the base. It is the motor for the film advancement on the film bodies that moves the film at around 10 frames per sec. Eos 1V HS. Also funny how some of the straps are Nikon. Must have been a Nikon user that realized Canon was better, but liked the feel of the Nikon strap still. =)

I agree with what was said earlier. If he is covering the entire course he needs all that stuff strapped around his neck. As for all the stickers. My guess is they are needed to keep all that Canon Junk from falling apart. lol

Some stickers are from the company that owns the lenses. Some of those photogs or thier employers rent or own the lenses and they want people to know it. |

If that guy is carrying all that for an entire tournament, he must be be in Ironman triathalon shape. And I'm guessing his chiropractor lives in a big house and drives a REALLY nice car. :) I certainly don't shy away from having a lot of gear, but wow!! |

The grey bag is unshot rolls of film and the black one is used film. Those were the days! |

I've always seen this photo presented in a series of photos with some obviously photoshopped with, for example, flood filters.
I would not be surprised at all if it wasn't a staged photo with the guy borrowing as many cameras as he could from his buddy. I mean, what's he taking a picture of anyway? He's standing in a park by himself. We all know photogs travel in packs for important stuff.
I think it's a cute picture, but I'm not ready to take it at face value at all.

Some of those stickers seem to belong to a Ferry company: Stena Line |

The equipment probably is not the personal property of the photographer.
