Sorry, Tim, you're on your own out there. My entry stomped its little feet and went the other way this afternoon. I think it's still in the building, but definitely not dancing.

Maybe it's pouting because I was paying attention to other entries?

You have rated 169 of 170 images (99%) in this challenge.

Very disappointing...After voting, I rekon only about 5% really understood bokeh. Most were simply distracting out of focus foregrounds that had no rhyme or reason...there were about 4 or 5 standouts that got it

Oh puleez hush, do you think dpc voters need extra reasons to vote down a photo with any kind of blur in the forground?

I agree with Hotpasta. If the submissions didn't get the challege right, why shouldn't they be voted down? I stopped voting because after 20 or so I only saw one that captured it correctly. If we keep only voting because it's pretty, cute, beautiful, etc, etc, blah-blah and it doesn't even remotely meet the challenge, how the heck is anyone going to learn that the need to follow the rules and/or research the subject more before entering is an important aspect of this site. I'm fed up with being called DNMC police. I'm going to vote the way I see it. So there!

Yeah, I think stopping voting was the right thing to do if you're feeling that itchy about issues as blurry as bokeh.

I must not have stated my opinion clearly enough. I finished voting and I voted many 3's for not having bokeh in the foreground or if they were just too bazaar looking and over processed. I'm trying to make a stand with the only means I have available. My vote.

Yes we had the same problem with our Houdini , he once spent a week down the drain hole in the shower! A new terrarium solved that problem.

I think that's part of what little fun the powers-that-be get from all this thankless work.......just knowing that we're out here beating our heads against various hard objects wondering if we met the challenge or not.

Besides, with the voters, you could spell it out in 100 crystal clear steps and someone would *still* argue the ambiguity of the challenge description.

ETA: Noticed you have a frog named Houdini.....I have a turtle we named Houdini, 'cause when he was really little, often we'd find him out of the container we had him in, and wandering around the house.

One day we came home to find one of the cats with him and it turned out we had named him incorrectly......shoulda named him Hockey Puck.

A lid on the container fixed that right up!

Ok, so can you find past examples of pictures that are bokeh vs DOF and why they are one or the other? That way maybe people can better understand the difference.

Thanks for teaching...

You might want to wait till after voting is done to post examples, just in case some example you find resembles an entry (good or bad). I'm on my way out the door but if you search the forums for bokeh you'll get a ton of hits, and some have pictures.

I guess with the grumbling, I'm not hating this score.

I still really like the image.

100ish vote check-in. Still in the building ;-) This is shaping up to be at least my 2nd highest score ever so I am very much enjoying watching the dance!

(and Jeb, you left me a very nice comment; thank you!)

I always pick the wrong challenge picture. Hindsight I regret not entering one of my outtakes. I think mine is one of the distracting out of focus bokehs you all are talking about.

Following Tim's direction again. From the look of the front page this week that should be a good thing, right?

Getting down to the wire (and down has been the operative word all weekend). Still happy.

Where're my dance partners? I know there's probably some people with 7's doing twirls right in the middle of the floor but maybe we can still bop around at the very edges :-)
